He was married to Baertie (1636-1699) in 1658 in Kinderhook, Columbia, New York. She was born in Kinderhook, and died in Albany, Albany, N.Y. Their seven children were all born in New York. Descendants live in New York, Wisconsin, Washington, Michigan and elsewhere. Includes allied family of Nelson/Nielsen originally of Gudbjerg, Svendborg Co. and elsewhere in Denmark and later in Washington and elsewhere. The early ancestor, Niels Nielsen/Nels Nelson (ca. 1827-1891), was born in Gudbjerg parish, Svendborg Co., Denmark and died in Spokane, Spokane, Washington. He married 1856 Karen Johanne Pedersdatter (1835-1917) in Gudbjerg. She was born in Vejstrup, Svendborg Co., Denmark, the daughter of Peder Hansen and Marie Hansdatter. They were parents of nine children born between 1858 and ca. 1878 in Gudbjerg parish.
