Book excerpt: Synopsis of the The Unifying Word The Word of God brings unity and empowerment to people who were created in the image of God. The Word of God is within itself unified. The Word of God, The Bible, is one book, and it speaks with one voice. All scripture is held together by Jesus Christ who is himself The Unifying Word. The Unifying Word identifies 26 parallel passages between the Old and New Testaments which add context and depth to the central themes of scripture such as: Creation, the Passover, the Call of Abraham, the Incarnation, the Cross of Christ, and Pentecost. Rev. Wortingers methodology suggests a contemporary context for each study that will engage the reader and lead directly to the point where each parallel links. Together the parallels give a greater depth of understanding into the scripture. The parallels give evidence that God has a purpose and a plan as He intervenes in human history. This approach to Holy Scripture was used extensively by the Apostle Paul and all of the Gospel writers. The Unifying Word has been written as a study of 26 of these parallels, but the book also points to a number of additional parallels that could be explored using the methodology outlined in the book. This book is an important resource for the serious student of the Bible. The book has been designed not only for individual study, but also a guided group study with a group study guide included with each chapter. The book has been field tested with several adult bible study groups.

Book The Unifying Theory of Everything

Download or read book The Unifying Theory of Everything written by Muhammed A. Asadi and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-08-28 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past few decades, physicists have uncovered a hidden order in nature; some have called it the Cosmic Code. Based on this order, scientists aim to uncover a grand unifying Theory of Everything (TOE). Once this order is decoded, it is envisioned by some that all fields of knowledge could be linked together based upon it. Using the work of experts in various fields, this book links testable scientific evidence in the Koran with modern discoveries that lead to a normative decoding of that order. The book is unique and has the potential to evoke great interest among scientists and lay people alike because of its non-traditional linking of science and religion. The work leading to the writing of this book, and the book itself can well be described as the "most important discovery" of the modern era. It also presents the Koran as a "falsifiable" scientific theory, which years of scientific inquiry have provided testable evidence for. It is a coherent presentation of the author's life work, a collection of over 15 years of research carried out by him. The author was nominated for the prestigious Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion .

Book excerpt: What is the overall story of the Bible? How do its various parts fit together? How can Jesus claim to be the fulfillment of the promises of God? Christians believe that the sovereign, all-powerful, infinite, Triune God of the universe has chosen to speak to people through the Bible. But sometimes this Bible can be daunting in its size and scope, and many people who read the Bible struggle with understanding how it all fits together. His Unified Word presents an eight-week Bible study that traces the storyline of the Bible from beginning to end and explores how every theme is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus. Twenty Old Testament and twenty New Testament passages reveal the big picture of creation, rebellion, redemption, and restoration. Each one of the forty days in the study guides readers through a Bible passage, an explanatory commentary, and thoughtful interaction with the text. Teaching sections at the end of each week also explain how all of the passages fit together through covenants, types, and promises. Ideal for both individuals and groups, this uplifting study will enrich knowledge of God and love for his unified Word.

Book The Unified Learning Model

  • Author : Duane F. Shell
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2010-05-03
  • ISBN : 9048132169
  • Pages : 211 pages

Download or read book The Unified Learning Model written by Duane F. Shell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-05-03 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book about how humans learn. Our focus is on classroom learning although the principles are, as the name of this book indicates, universal. We are concerned with learning from pre-school to post-graduate. We are concerned with most bu- ness, industrial and military training. We do not address how infants learn how to speak or walk, or how grown-ups improve their tennis swing. We do address all learning described by the word “thought”, as well as anything we might try to teach, or instruct in formal educational settings. In education, the words theory and model imply conjecture. In science, these same words imply something that is a testable explanation of phenomena able to predict outcomes of experiments. This book presents a model of learning that the authors offer in the sense of scientists rather than educators. Conjecture implies that information is incomplete, and so it surely is with human learning. On the other hand, we assert that more than enough is known to sustain a “scienti?c” model of learning. This book is not a review of the literature. Instead, it is a synthesis. Scholars and many teachers likely have heard much if not most or even all of the information we use to develop the uni?ed learning model. What you have not read before is a model putting the information together in just this way; this is the ?rst one.

Book Glory in Romans and the Unified Purpose of God in Redemptive History

Download or read book Glory in Romans and the Unified Purpose of God in Redemptive History written by Donald L. Berry and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-02-19 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eschatological glory is a significant motif in Romans that has failed to garner the attention it deserves. Donald Berry argues that glory lies at the heart of Paul's redemptive historical framework and is an integral part of the gospel Paul proclaims in Romans. For Paul, eschatological glory is the realization of God's purpose for Adam and for Israel to see and to show forth the glory of God. This divine purpose finds fulfillment in Christ and in the new humanity he creates, those who now have "hope of the glory of God" (Rom 5:2). Paul's letter to the Romans provides stunning glimpses into the nature of this eschatological glory and the hope that believers have in Christ. Through careful and compelling exegesis, Berry brings to light Paul's conception of glory and its place at the center of God's purposes in redemptive history. While providing crucial insights into Romans, this study also contributes more broadly to Pauline theology and to the field of biblical theology. It highlights Paul's understanding of a unified divine purpose that runs through creation and redemption--God's desire to display his nature and character in all of creation through image-bearers who share in and reflect his glory.

Book The Unified Operations of the Human Soul

Download or read book The Unified Operations of the Human Soul written by Jeffrey C. Waddington and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book endeavors to examine and critically assess the theological anthropology of Jonathan Edwards with a view to considering how this anthropology coheres with his apologetic methodology. Specifically, the question has been raised whether Edwards' doctrine of man is consistent with the picture painted of Jonathan Edwards by John Gerstner that he was the epitome of the classical apologist. It is argued that Edwards practiced an eclectic apologetic sans apologetic self-awareness. In other words, Edwards was a child of his training and time.

Book Fire of Mercy Heart of the Word Vol 2

Download or read book Fire of Mercy Heart of the Word Vol 2 written by Erasmo Leiva-Merikakis and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 678 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To the unstudied eye, St. Matthew's gospel can seem a terse narrative, almost a historical document and not the tremendously spiritual (and doctrinal) storehouse that it is. In his third volume of meditations on Matthew (chapters 19-25), Erasmo Leiva continues to show Matthew's prose to be not terse so much as economical--astoundingly so given its depth. The lay reader can derive great profit from reading this. Each short meditation comments on a verse or two, pointing to some facet of the text not immediately apparent, but rich with meaning. Leiva's work is scholarly but eminently approachable by the lay reader. The tone is very much of "taste and see how good the Lord is" and an invitation of "friend, come up higher!." The goal of the book is to help the reader experience the heat of the divine heart and the light of the divine Word. Leiva comments on the Greek text, demonstrating nuances in the text that defy translation. He uses numerous quotes from the Fathers and the Liturgy of the Church to demonstrate the way the Tradition has lived and read the Word of God. His theological reflection vivifies doctrine by seeking its roots in the words and actions of Jesus.

Book The Unified Black Movement in Brazil 1978 2002

Download or read book The Unified Black Movement in Brazil 1978 2002 written by David Covin and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-05-12 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brazil in the late 1970s was a country of racial tension and inequality. During this time, a number of independent Black organizations sprang up from older roots, giving the black population a place to create, develop and share narratives about life in Brazil. Within these organizations, they developed a sense of racial consciousness that gave rise to the Movimento Negro Unificado (MNU) in 1979. The MNU, or Unified Black Movement, created an outlet for racial grievances and gave a voice to those previously unheard. This intensive historical study of Brazil's Movimento Negro Unificado centers on the political effects and ramifications of the group. In order to present a complete picture of the MNU, it looks at the organization within four separate contexts: international, national, historical and human. Through this approach, the MNU is examined in relation to the African Diaspora, the European colonization of the Americas, the Atlantic Slave Trade, and the development of Brazil as an independent state. From a national perspective, the MNU is viewed amid other social organizations and cultural expressions. The result is a detailed study that admits the organization's shortcomings but assesses them contextually, providing a more complete and nuanced understanding of the significance of the MNU's problems and achievements. Appendices offer additional information such as the MNU Letter of Principles, the Constitution of the MNU, the preamble to the MNU Action Program and the MNU Hymn. A glossary is also included.
