Book excerpt: This guitar chord book represents the largest and most highly organized and useful collection of chords yet published. Each chord type has five levels of organization: 1) Common Voicings (This is where you'll find shapes than are both relatively easy to play and sound good.) 2) Drop 2" voicings, 3) Chords organized by the lowest sounding note. This section covers all inversions. 4) Chords organized by the highest note. This is very useful when you're looking for a chord to harmonize a melody note. 5) Chords which span 5 or more frets - ""stretchy forms."" All forms are moveable and can be applied to any key. This is not your typical ""chords-by-key"" chord book; it is much more comprehensive in scope. Complete instructions on how to best use this book are included in the introduction.

Download or read book A Saint on Death Row written by Thomas Cahill and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2009-03-10 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the New York Times bestselling author of How the Irish Saved Civilization comes the absorbing, heartbreaking tale of the hard life and tragic death of Dominique Green—wrongly accused, then executed in Huntsville, Texas—and shines a light on our racist and deeply flawed criminal justice system. Green, an extraordinary young man from the urban ghettos of Houston, was utterly failed by every echelon of society—the Catholic Church, numerous U.S. courts of law, and even his own mother. But from the depths of despair on Death Row, he transcended his earthly sufferings and achieved enlightenment and peace, inciting an international movement against the death penalty and inspiring his personal hero, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, to plead publicly for mercy. A Saint on Death Row is an unforgettable, sobering, and deeply spiritual account that illuminates the moral imperatives too often ignored in the headlong quest for judgment.

On Midsummer Eve 2008, three people, each on the run from a failed relationship, become trapped in San Francisco's Buena Vista Park, the secret home of Titania, Oberon, and their court. On this night, something awful is happening in the faerie kingdom: in a fit of sadness over the end of her marriage, which broke up in the wake of the death of her adopted son, Titania has set loose an ancient menace, and the chaos that ensues will threaten the lives of immortals and mortals alike. Download or read book The Barber of Damascus written by Dana Sajdi and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2013-10-09 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about a barber, Shihab al-Din Ahmad Ibn Budayr, who shaved and coiffed, and probably circumcised and healed, in Damascus in the 18th century. The barber may have been a "nobody," but he wrote a history book, a record of the events that took place in his city during his lifetime. Dana Sajdi investigates the significance of this book, and in examining the life and work of Ibn Budayr, uncovers the emergence of a larger trend of history writing by unusual authors—people outside the learned establishment—and a new phenomenon: nouveau literacy. The Barber of Damascus offers the first full-length microhistory of an individual commoner in Ottoman and Islamic history. Contributing to Ottoman popular history, Arabic historiography, and the little-studied cultural history of the 18th century Levant, the volume also examines the reception of the barber's book a century later to explore connections between the 18th and the late 19th centuries and illuminates new paths leading to the Nahda, the Arab Renaissance.
