This book argues that it's not the politicians, not big business (glorifying the free market), but Canadians in general. It provides compelling evidence of our loss of compassion during the last quarter of the twentieth century and our new demands for a harsher approach toward less fortunate Canadians, a harshness reminiscent of the century's early years. In the interim, we supported progressive social policies that set us apart in North America. Today we disown them and have become less attractive Canadians in the process.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 150 years after Confederation, Canada is known around the world for its social diversity and its commitment to principles of multiculturalism. But the road to contemporary Canada is a winding one, a story of division and conflict as well as union and accommodation. In Canada’s Odyssey, renowned scholar Peter H. Russell provides an expansive, accessible account of Canadian history from the pre-Confederation period to the present day. By focusing on what he calls the "three pillars" of English Canada, French Canada, and Aboriginal Canada, Russell advances an important view of our country as one founded on and informed by "incomplete conquests." It is the very incompleteness of these conquests that have made Canada what it is today, not just a multicultural society but a multinational one. Featuring the scope and vivid characterizations of an epic novel, Canada’s Odyssey is a magisterial work by an astute observer of Canadian politics and history, a perfect book to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Ugly Cat is dying for a paleta, or ice pop, and his friend Pablo is determined to help him get one by scaring a little girl who is enjoying a coconut paleta in the park. Things go horribly wrong when, instead of being scared, the little girl picks Pablo up and declares that he would make a great snack for her pet snake. Oh and there's also the small problem that Ugly Cat may have inadvertently swallowed Pablo in all of the commotion! Ugly Cat and his impeccably dressed mouse friend, Pablo, are an unlikely and dynamic duo who will win young readers over with their ridiculously silly antics and their search for tasty treats.

Book Canada In Decay

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ricardo Duchesne
  • Publisher : Black House Publishing
  • Release : 2019
  • ISBN : 9781912759989
  • Pages : 382 pages

Download or read book Canada In Decay written by Ricardo Duchesne and published by Black House Publishing. This book was released on 2019 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Canada In Decay is the first scholarly book questioning the undemocratic policy of mass immigration and racial diversification in Canada. The entire Canadian political establishment, the mainstream media and the academics, are all in harmonious unison with the banks and corporations, in promoting two myths to justify mass immigration. The first myth this book demolishes is the claim that immigration into Canada "enriches the country", by demonstrating that mass immigration is not only leading to Euro-Canadians becoming a small minority in their own homeland, but because of the disparity in the birth-rate, the Euro-Canadian population is likely to become almost extinct. The second myth this book demolishes is the regularly repeated claim that Canada is a "nation of immigrants" by demonstrating that Canada was founded by Indigenous Quebecois, Acadians, and English speakers. This book also exposes the rewriting of Canada's history in the media, schools, and universities, as an attempt to rob Euro-Canadians of their own history by inventing a past that conforms to the ideological goals of a future multiracial and multicultural Canada. Canada In Decay explains the origins of the ideology of immigrant multiculturalism and the inbuilt radicalizing nature of this ideology, and argues that the "theory of multicultural citizenship" is marred by a double standard which encourages minorities to affirm their collective cultural rights while Euro-Canadians are excluded from affirming theirs. "Canada In Decay is a bold, compelling, and often devastating deconstruction of the Left-Liberal narrative which has dominated Canadian politics since the 1970s. It is bound to put on the defensive both the politically correct Left and the globalist Right not just in Canada but across the entire western world." -- Grant Havers, author of Leo Strauss and Anglo-American Democracy: A Conservative Critique.

Book excerpt: The generation that came of age from 1960 to 1980 had front-row seats to the events and personalities that laid the foundation for the Canada we know today. As the generation matured, so too did the country. Chapters range from TV to sports, music to business, and stage to screen. A section includes the lengths individuals went to be “cool.” Another features Canada’s attempts to deal with the big brash neighbour-nation to the south. Equal parts history, pop culture, and trivia, the events and personalities that shaped Canada for years to come are presented with wry humour. Whether you choose this book for entertainment, for nostalgia, for easy-to-read history, or for quirky trivia, you will be reminded of how much change has occurred in Canada over a lifetime.
