Where can I go? How am I to discover whether there is any truth in what I have heard? These questions fall naturally from the lips of a possible convert. Following inquiry comes an equally natural desire to know what is a seance; why mediums are necessary; and if spiritual communications are to be depended on. To all these questions there is but one answer: Try, and prove for yourself. My own first experience of spiritual demonstration goes back to quite early girlhood, when owing to my father's interest in the subject we used to try for communications, sitting at a table with joined hands, insemi-darkness, and received messages by means of the alphabet and raps. As a family we had no object in deceiving ourselves, and my father used to keep a written record of the various communications. They made interesting reading at the time, but after I grew up and left home I did not pursue the subject.
