Book excerpt: Until recently, Maddy Page's life was pretty routine--morning runs, attending school, and avoiding the spotlight the rest of her family thrives in. But even with all the effort she puts into being unremarkable, someone's noticed. And who wouldn't want to be noticed by MJ? He's handsome, funny, and makes her feel safe--a feeling she's never experienced outside her dreams. MJ is supposed to be on a mundane assignment--save a mortal from a demon on a killing spree. But before he can make contact with his charge, Maddy happens. While every mortal is supposed to have a file as well as a Guardian Angel, she doesn't. She's immune to his compulsions and has abilities mortals shouldn't have. Worse yet, she isn't aware she has them. MJ knows he should focus on his job, but the mysteries surrounding Maddy are frighteningly addictive. And she's in more danger than either of them realizes. With no Guardian and no file, if she dies, neither Heaven nor Hell can claim her soul.

Book excerpt: In the author's words, "Identity is complicated. At least it was for me. I lost decades to its uncertainty. To questioning my worth, my value, my very existence. Viewing myself through the tainted lens of unimportance guided every decision. I was on a quest to validate a truth I mistakenly believed to be gospel. An unexpected epiphany led to more questions and the discovery of a lifelong coverup. To prove that I had been living the wrong truth. Finding peace took me to the greatest cities in Europe, to New Orleans, to psychics, therapists, and to energy healers. But ultimately, it took me to myself."

Download or read book The Transbeingness of Man written by Thomas Martin Newald and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2016-08-26 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is my contribution of intuitive epistemology. This book discusses many new understandings of ultimate reality but, primarily, new understandings of the nature of God, the nature of man, and the nature and origin of our present universe. God is described as not personal, not all-powerful, not all-knowing, and not all-present. Individualized man is described as the unknowing expression of God. The universe is described as composed, in part, of the formless realm, the physical realm, the purgatorial realm, the spiritual realm, and the infinite void. The transbeingness of man is described as formless man, physical man, purgatorial man, and spiritual man. Individualized man, a nonspecific term for individualizations of infinite man, is described as alternately existing in two realities. The first reality is core reality. In core reality, individualized man is in total self-conscious unity and harmony with God. Thus, in core reality, individualized man exists in a mental self-realizing state of total harmony and bliss. The second reality is objective reality. In objective reality, individualized man experiences his infinite existence. This experiencing of existence is described as the purpose for individualized mans existence. Also, a fundamental understanding of this book is understanding the difference between real experiences and nonreal experiences. All functions within ultimate reality comprise real experiences. All experiences self-consciously created by individualized man are nonreal experiences. It is through the creative experiencing of objective existence that individualized man understands himself, God, and the purpose for his infinite existence. Finally, this book describes heaven and hell. Individualized man self-punishes himself for all his wrongdoings; God punishes no one. Hell is reserved for the individualizations of man that self-consciously reject God, but real physical hell is not a place of punishment.
Download or read book Teaching Media Ethics written by Sherry Baker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-11-25 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both new instructors teaching media ethics for the first time and mature faculty -- who recognize that media ethics instruction deserves more than being worked into the professional classes -- find most of their instructional techniques come from observing their own instructors or from hunches. The literature of media ethics appears to be long on principle and reasoning but short on how to transmit that body of wisdom to students already dazed by an assault on their right/wrong world. Accordingly, this special issue is aimed at providing some correction to the problem by presenting a few ideas to help instructors, whether they labor in the classroom or in the newsroom.
Download or read book The Steady Running of the Hour written by Justin Go and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An impossible quest. An epic love story. A mesmerizing debut. In 1924, the English mountaineer Ashley Walsingham dies attempting to summit Mount Everest, leaving his fortune to his long-lost lover, Imogen Soames-Andersson—whom he has not seen in seven years. Ashley’s attorneys search in vain for Imogen, but the estate remains unclaimed. Nearly eighty years later, new information leads the same law firm to Tristan Campbell, a young American who could be the estate’s rightful heir. If Tristan can prove he is Imogen’s descendant, the inheritance will be his. But with only weeks before Ashley’s trust expires, Tristan must hurry to find the evidence he needs. From London WWI archives to the battlefields in France to the fjords of Iceland, Tristan races to piece together the story behind the unclaimed riches: a reckless love affair pursued only days before Ashley’s deployment to the Western Front of the Great War; a desperate trench battle fought by soldiers whose hope is survival rather than victory; an expedition to the uncharted heights of the world’s tallest mountain. Following a trail of evidence that stretches to the far edge of Europe, Tristan becomes consumed by Ashley and Imogen’s story. But as he draws close to the truth, Tristan realizes he may be seeking something more than an unclaimed fortune. The Steady Running of the Hour announces the arrival of a stunningly talented author. Justin Go’s “debut is ambitious in many ways…it depicts a love that transcends time and disdains convention; and it fluidly moves between past and present” (Publishers Weekly).
