Book Managing Transformation

Download or read book Managing Transformation written by J. Satyanarayana and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2012-02-11 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Change is the law of life. This precept holds for individuals and organi-zations alike. Radical change, called transformation, is not so frequent. Organizational transformation entails fundamental changes that encompass the entire gamut of the organization. A successful transformation exercise begins with formulating a set of Objectives at the beginning and ends up with realizing the desired Outcomes. This book delves deep into the intricacies of the life cycle of organizational transformation and explains how it can be managed effectively adopting a systematic and step-by-step methodology. In this well-researched text, the author, J. Satyanarayana, with his vast and varied experience in the field of management and governance, gives a brilliant exposition of managing transformation. The book postulates the O2O (Objectives to Outcomes) framework as a seven-step methodology. The methodology, in a sense, is a meta-framework for transformation. It harmonizes and synthesizes altogether 40 sub-frameworks, which include some well-known concepts, such as Porter’s Value Chain Framework, Kaplan and Norton’s Balanced Scorecard, and Hammer’s BPR framework. The author illustrates the O2O framework through a Case Study on Passport Seva Project, designed by him, and being implemented all over India to transform the quality of passport-related services provided to the citizens. This text, with its blend of theory and practice, would prove extremely valuable to the students of management and commerce. It should also be a valuable reference book to the administrators and management consultants. KEY FEATURES : By expounding the O2O methodology, the book addresses the managerial requirements of conceptualizing, designing and implement-ing major transformation projects. Focuses on the four principal dimensions of transformation, namely, Process, People, Technology, and Business Model while explaining the major concepts. Interspersed with plenty of examples to illustrate the concepts. Includes chapter-end review questions to drill the students in self-study.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The digital transformation is in full swing and fundamentally changes how we live, work, and communicate with each other. From retail to finance, many industries see an inflow of new technologies, disruption through innovative platform business models, and employees struggling to cope with the significant shifts occurring. This Fourth Industrial Revolution is predicted to also transform Logistics and Supply Chain Management, with delivery systems becoming automated, smart networks created everywhere, and data being collected and analyzed universally. The Digital Transformation of Logistics: Demystifying Impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution provides a holistic overview of this vital subject clouded by buzz, hype, and misinformation. The book is divided into three themed-sections: Technologies such as self-driving cars or virtual reality are not only electrifying science fiction lovers anymore, but are also increasingly presented as cure-all remedies to supply chain challenges. In The Digital Transformation of Logistics: Demystifying Impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the authors peel back the layers of excitement that have grown around new technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Blockchain or Cloud computing, and show use cases that give a glimpse about the fascinating future we can expect. Platforms that allow businesses to centrally acquire and manage their logistics services disrupt an industry that has been relationship-based for centuries. The authors discuss smart contracts, which are one of the most exciting applications of Blockchain, Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings for freight procurement, where numerous data sources can be integrated and decision-making processes automated, and marine terminal operating systems as an integral node for shipments. In The Digital Transformation of Logistics: Demystifying Impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, insights are shared into the cold chain industry where companies respond to increasing quality demands, and how European governments are innovatively responding to challenges of cross-border eCommerce. People are a vital element of the digital transformation and must be on board to drive change. The Digital Transformation of Logistics: Demystifying Impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution explains how executives can create sustainable impact and how competencies can be managed in the digital age - especially for sales executives who require urgent upskilling to remain relevant. Best practices are shared for organizational culture change, drawing on studies among senior leaders from the US, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia, and for managing strategic alliances with logistics service providers to offset risks and create cross-functional, cross-company transparency. The Digital Transformation of Logistics: Demystifying Impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution provides realistic insights, a ready-to-use knowledge base, and a working vocabulary about current activities and emerging trends of the Logistics industry. Intended readers are supply chain professionals working for manufacturing, trading, and freight forwarding companies as well as students and all interested parties.

Book Human Factors Research in Command Information Processing Systems

Download or read book Human Factors Research in Command Information Processing Systems written by Seymour Ringel and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Command System program of the U.S. Army Behavioral Science Research Laboratory is directed toward solving problems associated with information processing and decision making by commanders and their staffs. Research focuses on one or more aspects of events which occur from the time a commander receives his mission until he completes it. This chain of events is the system within which command decisions are formulated and executed--a tactical operations system within which tactical information processing is performed. The Command Systems program is divided into two work units. Research efforts which focus on such information processing aspects as the rapid and accurate input and assimilation of information are conducted by the Tactical Information Processing (TIP) work unit. Efforts which emphasize aspects of the total system such as allocation of functions to man and equipment and system information requirements fall within the Tactical Operations System (TOS) work unit. The present report traces research progress from the beginning of FY 1967 to the present. During this period 23 projects were completed or are now in progress.
