Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Treatise on Business Practice: Or How Business Is Done The author claims that there is nothing in this book which should not be familiar to every such person. There are also many facts contained herein which cannot, from the nature of things, be incorporated in a series of transactions intended to illustrate business practice. These things the instructor may intend to point out incidentally, but without some regular time being set apart for them, and some previous study of the question being required, the opportunity will often pass and the student go uninstructed. Further experience may suggest some changes in the plan, and the addition of other matter, or a more extended treatment of some topics treated herein. To this end, criticisms and suggest ions are solicited, that future editions may be better suited to the wants of all. Book Transactions Vol 22 Classic Reprint

Download or read book Transactions Vol 22 Classic Reprint written by Actuarial Society of America and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2019-01-28 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Transactions, Vol. 22 Since its inception, the Society has held semi-annual meetings, and for many years these meetings have extended over a day and a half. With the smaller number of members this time was found sufficient, until recently, to transact all the necessary business of the Society, including the reading of new papers and the discussion of those presented at the previous meeting. But with the recent increase in membership, and with the introduction of the Question Box, a day and a half is too short a time for the orderly transaction of our business. This was impressed upon all of us very markedly at our meeting last October, because we then had to discuss two sets of papers, owing to the overlapping of the old and the new systems. It seemed impracticable to extend the duration of our meetings; therefore, some plan of transacting the business of the Society within the time at its disposal had to be devised. I sought advice from the Council, and one kind, practical member suggested that if, at the annual meeting in May, the President availed himself of the Option of making a few remarks, instead of delivering an ad dress, the problem might be solved. It was good advice, and I shall follow it today and limit my remarks to a statement regarding our Society and some of its activities. Book Bookkeeping for Modern Business Classic Reprint

Download or read book Bookkeeping for Modern Business Classic Reprint written by John G. Kirk and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-11-27 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bookkeeping for Modern Business A Business Transaction is an exchange of values; that is, one value is given in exchange for another. Bookkeeping - Years ago men who engaged in trade learned that it was unwise to carry on business Without keeping written records of their business transactions. They found it was necessary to keep written records in order that they could tell, from time to time, the amounts of cash received and paid out; the value of the goods purchased and sold; What persons owed the business for goods sold them on credit, and how much; what persons the business owed for goods purchased on credit, and how much; the amount of cash paid out for rent, coal, help, etc. From these written records the owner of the business could determine what the business owned and what the business owed, and whether the business was being run at a profit or a loss. The process of keeping such records is called bookkeeping. Bookkeeping consists in recording business transactions in a systematic manner so that the results of the various kinds of business transactions may, at any time, be easily determined.
