Start with the Bank Statement Balance: Begin by noting the ending balance as per the bank statement for the period you're reconciling. This is the balance provided by the bank and includes all transactions processed by the bank during the statement period. List Outstanding Checks: Identify any checks that have been issued by the company but have not yet cleared the bank. These are termed "outstanding checks." Record the total amount of outstanding checks. List Deposits in Transit: Similarly, identify any deposits that have been made by the company but have not yet been recorded by the bank. These are termed "deposits in transit." Record the total amount of deposits in transit.
