Book Naturally Occurring Organohalogen Compounds

Download or read book Naturally Occurring Organohalogen Compounds written by A. Douglas Kinghorn and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-24 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume is the third in a trilogy that documents naturally occurring organohalogen compounds, bringing the total number — from fewer than 25 in 1968 — to approximately 8,000 compounds to date. Nearly all of these natural products contain chlorine or bromine, with a few containing iodine and, fewer still, fluorine. Produced by ubiquitous marine (algae, sponges, corals, bryozoa, nudibranchs, fungi, bacteria) and terrestrial organisms (plants, fungi, bacteria, insects, higher animals) and universal abiotic processes (volcanos, forest fires, geothermal events), organohalogens pervade the global ecosystem. Newly identified extraterrestrial sources are also documented. In addition to chemical structures, biological activity, biohalogenation, biodegradation, natural function, and future outlook are presented.

  • Author : Krystyna Kamienska-Trela
  • Publisher : Royal Society of Chemistry
  • Release : 2012
  • ISBN : 1849733732
  • Pages : 499 pages

Download or read book Nuclear Magnetic Resonance written by Krystyna Kamienska-Trela and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2012 with total page 499 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a spectroscopic method, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) has seen spectacular growth, both as a technique and in its applications. Today's applications of NMR span a wide range of scientific disciplines, from physics to biology to medicine. Each volume of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance comprises a combination of annual and biennial reports which together provide comprehensive coverage of the literature on this topic. This Specialist Periodical Report reflects the growing volume of published work involving NMR techniques and applications, in particular NMR of natural macromolecules, which is covered in two reports: NMR of Proteins and Nucleic Acids and NMR of Carbohydrates, Lipids and Membranes. In his foreword to the first volume, the then editor, Professor Robin Harris announced that the series would be a discussion on the phenomena of NMR and that articles will be critical surveys of the literature. This has certainly remained the case throughout the series, and in line with its predecessors, Volume 40 aims to provide a comprehensive coverage of the relevant NMR literature. For the current volume this relates to publications appearing between June 2009 and May 2010 (the nominal period of coverage in volume 1 was July 1970 to June 1971). Compared to the previous volume there are some new members of the reporting team. Theoretical Aspects of Spin-Spin Couplings are covered by J. Jazwinski, while E. Swiezewska and J.W̤jcik provide an account of NMR of Carbohydrates, Lipids and Membranes.

Book Templated Organic Synthesis

Download or read book Templated Organic Synthesis written by François Diederich and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2000 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Templated Organic Synthesis Edited by F. Diederich and P. J. Stang Located at the borderline of supramolecular and organic chemistry, template-controlled reactions allow the synthesis of complex molecules which would hardly be achievable through classical methods. This handbook offers authorative information on how noncovalent and covalent templates can be effectively applied to control reaction rates as well as regio- and stereo-selectivity. From the concepts of template control such as molecular imprinting, self-replication, and reversible tether-directed remote functionalization, the reader is led to template-based ring-closing reactions, oligomerizations, and multiple functionalizations and their application in the synthesis of supramolecular scaffolds and natural products. The editors and authors, all internationally recognized experts in their area, succeeded in presenting the manifold aspects of template-controlled synthesis in a didactic way, making this methodology accessible to a broad readership of organic synthetic chemists. Well-selected, reliable key experimental protocols and an up-to-date reference list underline the practical approach of this valuable handbook. Being the first book of its kind, it will serve as a pacemaker and stimulate future research.
