Book The Tormenting Factor

Download or read book The Tormenting Factor written by Ima Survivor and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-04-28 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This author's biography is an ongoing account of abuse, rape, and torment. It is written with a provocative tool of undercurrents that substantiate how generational curses are formed. The factual scenario of family disgruntling bears witness to the learned behavior that causes extreme anxiety and emotional torment. This story is not about revenge or judgment. It is simply a chronicle to give readers a comparative view of themselves and their families with imminent clarity. Although the original purpose of this book was to share deep secrets with the author's children, the crux of these secrets had already influenced too many circumstances and characteristics of her progeny. Repeated family behavior had developed into curses that were passed from generation to generation. If relationships are your enemy, and you have somehow moved from one abusive relationship to another, you will learn why you continue to enter these same types of relationships. If your body is twisted due to bitterness and unforgiveness, you will learn how attitude promotes pain. If you are haunted by shadows of your past, this book may help you understand and deal with your emotions. No one is exempt from some type of family transference. Emotional effects may go unnoticed by others, although they alter our lives and usually require resolution. There is a heavily populated audience of esoteric families who are crying out everywhere because they have been hurt. If you have experienced abuse, Ima's biography may be difficult to read. Humor and faith are both excellent coping skills to help deal with the dark side. This book contains enough tincture (an admixture of humor) to help cope with emotions as readers experience the heaviness of this story. Laughter is the morphine that will numb your pain until your resolution comes.

Book excerpt: Eighteen experts in the field of bullying and cyberbullying and the SRSG on Violence against Children, have written a unique contribution from their specific area of expertise, addressing bullying and cyberbullying. Starting with a human rights foundation and children participation, it is followed by examples that show different experiences in developing policies and legislation, including specific dimensions and vulnerable groups to be kept in mind. The publication then provides different examples of the very few evidence-based interventions that have proven to work in the prevention and respond to bullying and cyberbullying in the school and its surroundings, decreasing its prevalence. The publication ends with information on global data and the need for better collection and analysis methodologies; a section addressing some of the specific aspects presented by cyberbullying and the use of information and communication technologies, and ends with an overview of prevalence of bullying and cyberbullying in different regions in the world.

Book The Torment of Secrecy

Download or read book The Torment of Secrecy written by Edward Shils and published by Ivan R. Dee. This book was released on 1996-02-01 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Edward Shils's The Torment of Secrecy is one of the few minor classics to emerge from the cold war years of anticommunism and McCarthyism in the United States. Mr. Shils's "torment" is not only that of the individual caught up in loyalty and security procedures; it is also the torment of the accuser and judge. This essay in sociological analysis and political philosophy considers the cold war preoccupation with espionage, sabotage, and subversion at home, assessing the magnitude of such threats and contrasting it to the agitation—by lawmakers, investigators, and administrators—so wildly directed against the "enemy." Mr. Shils's examination of a recurring American characteristic is as timely as ever. "Brief...lucid... brilliant."—American Political Science Review. "A fine, sophisticated analysis of American social metabolism."—New Republic. "An excitingly lucid and intelligent work on a subject of staggering importance...the social preconditions of political democracy."—Social Forces.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.

Book excerpt: God made your heart for love, joy, peace, and wholeness. But pastors say that more than 90% of their congregations struggle with unforgiveness - and unforgiveness can make us forget what we were made for. What if the most pervasive sin of our day is invisible, hidden deep inside our hearts? What if it affects every aspect of our lives and relationships so quietly and insidiously that most of us miss it altogether? Bruce Wilkinson believes unforgiveness is that sin. Through the teachings of Jesus, The Freedom Factor reveals the link between our suffering and our unforgiveness. But it also shows how to forgive - for real and forever. The story doesn't have to end with the pain of our wounds. Whatever happened to us happened. But the God who made your heart has shown a way past the wounds, back to the life and love that we were made for - a path toward freedom.
