Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by specialists in the field of Egyptology, this book is a readable introduction to ancient Egypt, covering all anticipated subjects and stressing the monuments and material culture of this remarkable ancient civilization. The rich natural resources of ancient Egypt provided a wealth of raw material for its structures, sculptures, and art, while its geographic isolation helped to ensure the survival of its rich culture for centuries. While other references focus on the people and battles central to Egyptian history, this reference explores the material culture and social institutions of ancient Egypt. The book focuses on pharaonic Egypt, covering the period from roughly 5000 BCE to the beginning of the Greco-Roman Period in 320 BCE. At the front of the work, a timeline provides a quick look at the major events in Egyptian history, and an introduction surveys ancient Egypt's physical geography and history. Alphabetically arranged reference entries written by expert contributors then provide fundamental information about the buildings, jewelry, social practices, and other topics related to the material culture and institutions that made up the Egyptian world. Excerpts from primary source historical documents provide evidence for what we know about ancient Egyptian culture, and suggestions for further reading direct users to additional sources of information.

Book Broken Timelines Book 1 Egypt

Download or read book Broken Timelines Book 1 Egypt written by Jack Stornoway and published by Digital Ink Productions. This book was released on 2019-03-26 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current timeline of dynastic Egypt is impossible. Believing in it means endorsing the idea the Hyksos were time-travelers, and that the Egyptians were technologically a thousand years behind their major trading partners in Mesopotamia during the Middle Kingdom. It also is not what the ancient Egyptians actually recorded, so believing it means believing that modern Egyptologists know more about ancient Egypt than the ancient Egyptians themselves. Given that the ancient Egyptians lived through it, and all Egyptologists have to go on is random bits of pottery and mostly ruined buildings, this seems like an incredible stretch of the imagination, granted no more than time-traveling Hyksos, but still a stretch. The fact that Egyptologists feel they don't need to explain these anachronisms because the history of Egypt is a political timeline, not subject to science, is insulting both to the intelligence and to the integrity of anyone that bothers looking into the history of this preeminent ancient culture. The idea that the ancient Egyptians built docks in the middle of the desert, and then dredged out mind-boggling amounts of mud to move the Nile to the docks, is beyond ridiculous. Maybe that's how Egyptologists would do it, but the existence of the pyramids proves the ancient Egyptians just weren't that stupid. The fact that they did dredge mind-boggling amounts of mud simply proves that the Nile water-levels were dropping rapidly at the end of the Old Kingdom. The fact that Egyptologists ignore the ancient Egyptian records of the pre-Dynastic era is probably for the best, imagine the nonsense they would have made up to explain the Osireion if they had to admit it is 15,000 years old! Unfortunately, the timeline of Egypt is the cornerstone of ancient history. As the Sumerian and later Mesopotamian civilizations were trading with the Egyptians, the Mesopotamian timeline is broken as the dates of certain Egyptians Kings are known to have lived at the same time as certain Mesopotamian Kings. This means that the bulk of the recorded history of Sumer has to be ignored by Assyriologists, as it just doesn't fit into the Egyptian timeline. As the Harappan history is then dated according to when they were trading with the Mesopotamians, and Indologists also fall subject to the inventive nonsense of Egyptologists. This means that Indologists have to accept the impossible fact that the bronze age Harappan civilization existed next to the iron age Ganges civilization for over 500 years, and never noticed they were there. These broken timelines then fan out further pulling the Minoans and Greeks, Iranians, and Chinese into this confusing mess.
