Book Singular Perturbation Methodology in Control Systems

Download or read book Singular Perturbation Methodology in Control Systems written by Desineni S. Naidu and published by IET. This book was released on 1988 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the twin topics of singular perturbation methods and time scale analysis to problems in systems and control. The heart of the book is the singularly perturbed optimal control systems, which are notorious for demanding excessive computational costs. The book addresses both continuous control systems (described by differential equations) and discrete control systems (characterised by difference equations).

Book Singular Perturbation Methods in Control

Download or read book Singular Perturbation Methods in Control written by Petar Kokotovic and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Singular perturbations and time-scale techniques were introduced to control engineering in the late 1960s and have since become common tools for the modeling, analysis, and design of control systems. In this SIAM Classics edition of the 1986 book, the original text is reprinted in its entirety (along with a new preface), providing once again the theoretical foundation for representative control applications. This book continues to be essential in many ways. It lays down the foundation of singular perturbation theory for linear and nonlinear systems, it presents the methodology in a pedagogical way that is not available anywhere else, and it illustrates the theory with many solved examples, including various physical examples and applications. So while new developments may go beyond the topics covered in this book, they are still based on the methodology described here, which continues to be their common starting point.

Book Scientific Support for the Decision Making in the Security Sector

Download or read book Scientific Support for the Decision Making in the Security Sector written by O. Kounchev and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2007-07-19 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today’s security environment is characterized by deep uncertainty. Threats are being posed not only by adversary (political) forces but may also come from natural challenges (be it energy, water, ecology or whatever). The types of operations that our civil security and military forces find themselves in today comprise a wide variety of tasks. The success criteria for these operations are a safe/secure environment for local population and stable conditions for state building rather than hit-kill ratio’s against adversaries – the criteria are soft and the many actors involved may have divergent if not opposing objectives. And where actors intentionally share common objectives, they come from different cultural and organizational backgrounds, and their systems and modus operandi (doctrine) have loose or no connectivity. Under these complex and uncertain conditions decision making is a challenging process. This publication reflect the initial state of a dialogue between specialists in security and specialists in mathematics, computer and information sciences on security topics. Papers included in this volume are naturally subdivided into four parts showing the wide future perspective for synthesis between science and security: Planning for Security; Mathematical, Computer and Information Sciences Methods for Security; Environmental Security; and Dynamic Optimization for Security.

Book IUTAM Symposium on Interaction between Dynamics and Control in Advanced Mechanical Systems

Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Interaction between Dynamics and Control in Advanced Mechanical Systems written by Dick H. van Campen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last decades, applications of dynamical analysis in advanced, often nonlinear, engineering systems have been evolved in a revolutionary way. In this context one can think of applications in aerospace engineering like satellites, in naval engineering like ship motion, in mechanical engineering like rotating machinery, vehicle systems, robots and biomechanics, and in civil engineering like earthquake dynamics and offshore technology. One could continue with this list for a long time. The application of advanced dynamics in the above fields has been possible due to the use of sophisticated computational techniques employing powerful concepts of nonlinear dynamics. These concepts have been and are being developed in mathematics, mechanics and physics. It should be remarked that careful experimental studies are vitally needed to establish the real existence and observability of the predicted dynamical phenomena. The interaction between nonlinear dynamics and nonlinear control in advanced engineering systems is becoming of increasing importance because of several reasons. Firstly, control strategies in nonlinear systems are used to obtain desired dynamic behaviour and improved reliability during operation, Applications include power plant rotating machinery, vehicle systems, robotics, etc. Terms like motion control, optimal control and adaptive control are used in this field of interest. Since mechanical and electronic components are often necessary to realize the desired action in practice, the engineers use the term mechatronics to indicate this field. If the desired dynamic behaviour is achieved by changing design variables (mostly called system parameters), one can think of fields like control of chaos.

Book Finite Frequency Analysis and Synthesis for Singularly Perturbed Systems

Download or read book Finite Frequency Analysis and Synthesis for Singularly Perturbed Systems written by Chenxiao Cai and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-28 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a self-contained collection of recent research findings providing a comprehensive and systematic unified framework for both analysis and synthesis for singularly perturbed systems. It paves the way for the gap between frequency-domain-transfer-function-based results and time-domain-state-space-based results to be bridged. It is divided into three parts focusing on: fundamental background of singular perturbation; general singular perturbation methodologies and time-scale techniques and the theoretical foundation of finite-frequency control; the analysis and synthesis of singularly perturbed systems; and real-world engineering applications implementing the results developed in systems like wind turbines and autonomous-aerial-vehicle hovering. It also presents solutions to analysis and design problems in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Lastly, it provides valuable reference material for researchers who wish to explore the design of controllers for such systems.

Book Fuzzy Control and Filter Design for Uncertain Fuzzy Systems

Download or read book Fuzzy Control and Filter Design for Uncertain Fuzzy Systems written by Wudhichai Assawinchaichote and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-07-14 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most real physical systems are nonlinear in nature. Control and?ltering of nonlinear systems are still open problems due to their complexity natures. These problem becomes more complex when the system's parameters are - certain. A common approach to designing a controller/?lter for an uncertain nonlinear system is to linearize the system about an operating point, and uses linear control theory to design a controller/?lter. This approach is successful when the operating point of the system is restricted to a certain region. H- ever, when a wide range operation of the system is required, this method may fail. ThisbookpresentsnewnovelmethodologiesfordesigningrobustH fuzzy? controllers and robustH fuzzy?lters for a class of uncertain fuzzy systems? (UFSs), uncertain fuzzy Markovian jump systems (UFMJSs), uncertain fuzzy singularly perturbed systems (UFSPSs) and uncertain fuzzy singularly p- turbed systems with Markovian jumps (UFSPS-MJs). These new meth- ologies provide a framework for designing robustH fuzzy controllers and? robustH fuzzy?lters for these classes of systems based on a Tagaki-Sugeno? (TS) fuzzy model. Solutions to the design problems are presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). To investigate the design problems, we?rst describe a class of uncertain nonlinear systems (UNSs), uncertain nonlinear Markovianjumpsystems(UNMJSs), uncertainnonlinearsingularlyperturbed systems(UNSPSs)anduncertainnonlinearsingularlyperturbedsystemswith Markovian jumps (UNSPS-MJs) by a TS fuzzy system with parametric - certainties and with/without Markovian jumps. Then, based on an LMI - proach, we develop a technique for designing robustH fuzzy controllers and? robustH fuzzy?lters such that a given prescribed performance index is? guaranteed.

Book Singular Perturbations

Download or read book Singular Perturbations written by Elena Shchepakina and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-06 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These lecture notes provide a fresh approach to investigating singularly perturbed systems using asymptotic and geometrical techniques. It gives many examples and step-by-step techniques, which will help beginners move to a more advanced level. Singularly perturbed systems appear naturally in the modelling of many processes that are characterized by slow and fast motions simultaneously, for example, in fluid dynamics and nonlinear mechanics. This book’s approach consists in separating out the slow motions of the system under investigation. The result is a reduced differential system of lesser order. However, it inherits the essential elements of the qualitative behaviour of the original system. Singular Perturbations differs from other literature on the subject due to its methods and wide range of applications. It is a valuable reference for specialists in the areas of applied mathematics, engineering, physics, biology, as well as advanced undergraduates for the earlier parts of the book, and graduate students for the later chapters.
