Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Tabulation of the Thermodynamic Properties of Normal Hydrogen From Low Temperatures to 300 Degrees K and From 1 to 100 Atmospheres The thermodynamic properties of normal hydrogen have been tabulated along isobars in 1°k increments and a method is described for estimating the effect of ortho-para composition on these properties. The reference for this work is Research Paper 1932 (rp 1932) of the National Bureau of Standards Journal of Research) where residual thermodynamic functions are tabulated as a function of the amagat density. The task described here is primarily the interpolation from density to pressure as an independent variable and the reduction of the residual functions to thermodynamic properties useful for engineer ing calculations. In addition, properties of the saturated vapor and liquid have been tabulated. Obviously, some of this work had been performed before in order to construct the temperature-entropy diagram given in RP 1932 and to tabulate the few isobars given in nbs Circular It was de51red to obtain the thermodynamic properties in a form that would be acceptable as input for electronic digital computers in more detail than previously obtainable. Therefore, it was judged easiest to repeat this work With an electronic digital computer using selected tables of RP 1932 as input. Results were obtained in the form of Hollerith punched cards and magnetic tape. Properties tabulated are pressure, temperature, specific volume, internal energy, enthalpy, and entropy. The pressure range covered is from 1 to 10 atm in steps of 1 atm and from 10 to 100 atm in steps of 5 atm. Below the critical pressure the temperature ranges from the saturation temperature to 3oo°k. Above the critical pressure the temperature ranges from slightly above the critical temperature to 300°k. See the t-p plot of Figure 1. This book was released on 2018-08-08 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Thermophysical Properties of Helium-4 From 0. 8 to 1500 K With Pressures to 2000 Mpa In these expressions, the temperature is expressed in Kelvins and the density is expressed in kilograms per cubic meter. For temperatures between T A and tm, the calculated state property is a linearly temperature-dependent weighted average of the state properties calculated from the hei and Hell equations. Thus, in the overlap region, the various calculated thermodynamic properties are not exactly consistent with one another; e. G. The Maxwell relations are only approximate, the numerical integral of CP along an isobar is not exactly the tabulated enthalpy difference, etc. In practice, the errors are on the order of 3 percent or less in the compressed liquid for pressures up to about mpa, but rise to 20 percent or more as the melting line is approached. The problem of obtaining thermodynamic consistency in this overlap region is compounded by the general lack of experimental data in this region, especially at higher pressures.
