Book Thermodynamic Properties of Liquid Water to One Kilobar

Download or read book Thermodynamic Properties of Liquid Water to One Kilobar written by William Alfred Walker and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent accurate experimental P-v-t data for pure liquid water, in the range 0 to 1000 bars and 0 to 150C, are combined with other data at P = 1 atmosphere and on the saturation line, to get the thermodynamic functions for liquid water throughout this range. Tables in c.g.s. units of v, E, H, S, Gibbs function, Helmholtz function, Cp, Cv, volume expansivity, isothermal compressibility, adiabatic compressibility, and Joule-Thompson coefficient are presented for 17 isotherms, with pressure increments of 20 bars. Book Thermodynamics for Chemists Physicists and Engineers

Download or read book Thermodynamics for Chemists Physicists and Engineers written by Robert Hołyst and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-07-05 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook takes an interdisciplinary approach to the subject of thermodynamics and is therefore suitable for undergraduates in chemistry, physics and engineering courses. The book is an introduction to phenomenological thermodynamics and its applications to phase transitions and chemical reactions, with some references to statistical mechanics. It strikes the balance between the rigorousness of the Callen text and phenomenological approach of the Atkins text. The book is divided in three parts. The first introduces the postulates and laws of thermodynamics and complements these initial explanations with practical examples. The second part is devoted to applications of thermodynamics to phase transitions in pure substances and mixtures. The third part covers thermodynamic systems in which chemical reactions take place. There are some sections on more advanced topics such as thermodynamic potentials, natural variables, non-ideal mixtures and electrochemical reactions, which make this book of suitable also to post-graduate students.

Book Thermochemistry of Alloys

Download or read book Thermochemistry of Alloys written by H. Brodowsky and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thermochemistry of alloys has interested generations of scientists and the subject was treated in classical textbooks long ago, e.g. by Hume-Rothery, by Wagner, and by Kubaschewski and Alcock. Nevertheless, the appearance of new materials and the desire to improve traditional materials and metallurgical processes has kept up demand for more information on the thermodynamics of these systems. The advent of computing power has created new opportunities to tie various aspects and properties together, such as phase diagrams and thermodynamic functions, that are in principle thermodynamically inter related but were too cumbersome to work out before. The computer has also been a powerful tool in buUding and testing models that help to explain the underlying causes of non-ideal behavior. At the same time, these calculations have pinpointed areas, where additional and more accurate data are needed. In the laboratory, new methods, improved materials, and sophistica ted instrumentation have gradually changed the way in which experiments are done. Within the time span of perhaps thirty years, the development went from jotting down individual readings of data points to strip chart recording to automatic digital data acquisition. Scholars and students active in the field of "Thermochemistry of Alloys" convened for a NATO Advanced Study Institute at Kiel in August 1987 to discuss these developments. This book collects most of the lectures and seminar papers given at the Institute.

Book Extrusion of Aluminium Alloys

Download or read book Extrusion of Aluminium Alloys written by T. Sheppard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years the importance of extruded alloys has increased due to the decline in copper extrusion, increased use in structural applications, environmental impact and reduced energy consumption. There have also been huge technical advances. This text provides comprehensive coverage of the metallurgical, mathematical and practical features of the process.
