Book The Berenstain Bears Thanksgiving

Download or read book The Berenstain Bears Thanksgiving written by Stan Berenstain and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2015-10-06 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The legendary Bigpaw turns the Bear Family’s Turkey Day upside down! Papa Bear can’t wait for the 3rd Thursday in November, when he can feast on turkey with all the trimmings and his favorite treat of all: mixed nuts. But a message in the harvest honeycomb strikes terror in the heart of Mama Bear. Bigpaw, the legendary Thanksgiving monster, is coming to Bear Country to make sure the bears are remembering to share nature’s great bounty with others. Papa pooh-poohs the legend because, after all, he knows best—no ifs, ands, or buts! Accompanied by Brother and Sister Bear, he travels to the mixed-nut forest to gather his special holiday treat. The animals are quaking in their boots—Bigpaw is already here! Are the cubs in danger? In this delightful, illustrated poem, the Berenstain Bears discover the true gift of sharing.

Download or read book Monster Kids written by Daniel Dockery and published by Running Press Adult. This book was released on 2022-10-04 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definitive, behind-the-scenes look at why Pokémon's evolution from a single Japanese video game to global powerhouse captured the world's attention, and how the "gotta catch 'em all" mentality of its fanbase shaped pop culture—and continues to do so today. More than just a simple journey through the history of Pokémon, Daniel Dockery offers an in-depth look at the franchise’s many branches of impact and influence. With dozens of firsthand interviews, Monster Kids covers its beginnings as a Japanese video game created to recapture one man's love of bug-collecting as a child before diving into the decisions and conditions that would ultimately lead to that game's global domination. With its continued growth as television shows, spin-off video games, blockbuster movies, trading cards, and toys, Pokémon is a unique and special brand that manages to continue to capture the attention and adoration of its eager fanbase 25 years after its initial release. Whether it was new animated shows like Digimon, Cardcaptors, and Yu-Gi-Oh!; the rise of monster-catching video games and trading card games; and more, Pikachu, the king of pop culture in the '90s, opened the doors in America to those hoping to capture some of Pokémon's dedicated fans. In Monster Kids, Dockery combines the personal stories of the people who helped bring Pokémon to the global stage with affection and humor, making this book the ultimate look at the rise of the franchise in Japan and then North America, but also the generation of kids whose passion for "catching them all" created a unique cultural phenomenon that continues to make a profound impact today.

Book Double Feature Creature Attack

Download or read book Double Feature Creature Attack written by Tom Weaver and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2003-02-19 with total page 732 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This whopping big McFarland Classic brings together 43 interviews with horror and science fiction movie writers, producers, directors and the men and women who saved the planet from aliens, behemoths, robots, zombies, and other sinister, stumbling threats--in the movies, at least. The interviewees reminisce about some of their great (and not so great!) films and tell their stories. This classic volume represents the union of two previous volumes: 1994's Attack of the Monster Movie Makers ("anecdotes are frank and revealing"--Video Watchdog); and 1995's They Fought in the Creature Features ("a fun book for all SF film enthusiasts"--Interzone). Together at last, this combined collection of interviews offers a candid and delightful perspective on the movies that still make audiences howl and squeal (though fear has long been replaced with sweet nostalgia).

It may be convoluted. It may be conspicuous. Hell, it might not even make any sense, but that's for you to decide upon and for me to not care about. In the end, I'm only 23, and this is just a jumble of writings and typings, every so often in the moment, and I'm proud of it. Tha year was 2010, and I'd recently graduated.

Book Blood Read

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joan Gordon
  • Publisher : University of Pennsylvania Press
  • Release : 1997-10
  • ISBN : 9780812216288
  • Pages : 284 pages

Download or read book Blood Read written by Joan Gordon and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 1997-10 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The vampire is one of the nineteenth century's most powerful surviving archetypes, owing largely to Bela Lugosi's portrayal of Dracula, the Bram Stoker creation. Yet the figure of the vampire has undergone many transformations in recent years, thanks to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and other works, and many young people now identify with vampires in complex ways. Blood Read explores these transformations and shows how they reflect and illuminate ongoing changes in postmodern culture. It focuses on the metaphorical roles played by vampires in contemporary fiction and film, revealing what they can tell us about sexuality and power, power and alienation, attitudes toward illness, and the definition of evil in a secular age. Scholars and writers from the United States, Canada, England, and Japan examine how today's vampire has evolved from that of the last century, consider the vampire as a metaphor for consumption within the context of social concerns, and discuss the vampire figure in terms of contemporary literary theory. In addition, three writers of vampire fiction—Suzy McKee Charnas (author of the now-classic Vampire Tapestry), Brian Stableford (writer of the lively and erudite novels Empire of Fear and Young Blood), and Jewelle Gomez (creator of the dazzling Gilda stories)—discuss their own uses of the vampire, focusing on race and gender politics, eroticism, and the nature of evil. The first book to examine a wide range of vampire narratives from the perspective of both writers and scholars, Blood Read offers a variety of styles that will keep readers thoroughly engaged, inviting them to participate in a dialogue between fiction and analysis that shows the vampire to be a cultural necessity of our age. For, contrary to legends in which Dracula has no reflection, we can see reflections of ourselves in the vampire as it stands before us cloaked not in black but in metaphor.

Book The Psalms of the Return Book V Psalms 107 150

Download or read book The Psalms of the Return Book V Psalms 107 150 written by Michael D. Goulder and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 1998-04-01 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book V of the Psalter (Psalms 107-150) divides into three, with the Songs of the Ascents (120-134) as the central section, and the first and third units following parallel structures (historical, Davidic, alphabetical, Hallel psalms). The units are all compositions of the Return period: 107-119 for the reconstruction of the Temple, 120-134 for Nehemiah's wall-building, 135-150 for Ezra's mission. Psalms 120-134 follow the episodes of Nehemiah's 'memoir', in order. All three groups show evidence of evening-morning alternation, and were intended for festal use: 107-118 at the Passover of Ezra 6, 120-134 at the Tabernacles of Nehemiah 12, 135-150 at Ezra's Tabernacles (Neh. 8).
