The papers address topics of key importance to teleconferencing, which involves the use of interactive audio, audiographic, video or computer systems for electronic group communications. Book Information Systems and Technology in the International Office of the Future

Download or read book Information Systems and Technology in the International Office of the Future written by Bernard Glasson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization of business, internationalization of trade, and increasing prevalence of multi-cultural interdisciplinary teams are beginning to redefine the nature of office work. Different-time/different-place/different-culture teams will become the norm. Same-time/same-place/same-culture teams will become the exception. The International Office of the Future (IOF) will be a dramatically different environment than that which exists in the majority of today's organizations. Prospects for the IOF give rise to numerous questions, which are addressed in this book. What are the salient issues? What design options or solution strategies exist to address these issues? How might these design options be best implemented? What are their implications? In addition, a number of specific topics will be discussed including: multi-cultural team productivity, IT platform requirements, and global telecommunications.

Book Video Conferencing

Download or read book Video Conferencing written by Axel Volmar and published by transcript Verlag. This book was released on 2023-11-30 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The COVID-19 pandemic has reorganized existing methods of exchange, turning comparatively marginal technologies into the new normal. Multipoint videoconferencing in particular has become a favored means for web-based forms of remote communication and collaboration without physical copresence. Taking the recent mainstreaming of videoconferencing as its point of departure, this anthology examines the complex mediality of this new form of social interaction. Connecting theoretical reflection with material case studies, the contributors question practices, politics and aesthetics of videoconferencing and the specific meanings it acquires in different historical, cultural and social contexts.

This book was released on 1997-04-01 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication, based on a study of the teleconferencing capabilities of 825 community colleges, is designed to assist colleges and businesses in further developing and utilizing telecommunications resources. The survey was developed by Hezel Associates: (1) to document the existing telecommunications capabilities of community colleges; (2) to determine the telecommunications expansion plans and outlook at the community colleges; and (3) to document the teleconferencing services available for user groups at community colleges. The vast majority of the respondents currently have downlink capabilities for satellite video conferencing, and well over half have two-way videoconferencing capabilities. While half are already using some form of videoconferencing in the classroom, another 40% are interested in adopting distance education in the future. Just over half of the colleges with analog satellite downlink capabilities are planning to upgrade to digital downlinks in the next two years. Over 90% of the colleges surveyed indicated a desire to increase the use of video communications technologies in their institution and community. Staff development, workshops, and business meetings were the three most frequently used teleconferencing activities in community colleges. Following the findings is a directory of the facilities, which provides registration information, technical capabilities, programming services available, and contact information for each of the participating colleges.
