The research center will support a progressive school that will utilize distinctive architectural design coupled with an innovative educational curriculum. The school will be designed with a digital focus that is on the cutting edge of education reform as competitive schools make a neighborhood attractive to families. By bringing in new jobs, creating greenways, new opportunities in education and encouraging occupancy by residents who have a longer-term commitment to the area, the project will help foster a cohesive community that is invested in the Williamsburg neighborhood.

Cronin demonstrates that employers, dominated by economic short-termism, extended their hegemony beyond the boundaries of the factory gates. Their reluctance to endorse and sponsor technical education radically influenced the perception of technical education held by government and local authorities.

The COVID-19 pandemic, society’s racial unrest, and anti-testing movements have aligned to underscore the need to examine systemic oppression and the impact it has on society through our education system. This text exposes how standardized testing perpetuates these injustices and provides the opportunity to disrupt the systems they rely upon and bolster the societal resistance that is needed.
