Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reaffirming the "greatness and inestimable value of human life," Pope John Paul II discusses in this encyclical letter the present-day legal, ethical, and moral threats to life. In view of today's climate of practical materialism, he addresses, among other issues: abortion artificial reproduction techniques contraception death penalty euthanasia legitimate defense sterilization suicide The Holy Father encourages the faithful to promote and develop the Christian message concerning life, based on the goodness and dignity of life and on the human responsibility to share in the fullness and truth of God's love. In order to build a new culture of human life through prayer and action, he welcomes evangelization efforts and stresses the role of the family in bringing this to fruition. Noting the unique role of women in promoting a "new feminism" that overcomes discrimination, violence, and exploitation, the pope recognizes the witness of love through motherhood and also adds a special word to women who have had an abortion. The letter concludes by looking to Jesus, in order that all may contemplate the life that was made manifest, and to the example and solace of Mary, who is the mother of life.

Book Eternal Retirement

  • Author : Rev. J.J. Inserra
  • Publisher : Outskirts Press
  • Release : 2023-05-04
  • ISBN : 1977264727
  • Pages : 314 pages

Download or read book Eternal Retirement written by Rev. J.J. Inserra and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2023-05-04 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Do you know where you will spend Eternity? Where will you go when your earthly life ends? Where you go depends on what you do now. Why is that so? Because after death the only laws and ways that matter are God's, and how well we tried to live by them. God wants everyone with Him, but unfortunately, not all will make it. Are you going to eventually make it to Heaven or not? This is unknown. Anyone can change for the better or worse until he or she passes away. If you're a Christian and think that "all I need is to believe in Jesus and do nothing more", then you are quite mistaken. This is because God the Son came and for all. With that said, does God owe us anything? But how well we live by His rules shows God that we want to live with Him forever in Heaven. If you are an Atheist or an Agnostic and don't believe God exists or that there is any proof of His Existence, this book helps those with such thinking. You have faith, just not in God. Yet. We need faith to believe the things people say to us, whether it is a lie or truth. When God Died for us, it can be seen as though He invested in us, rather than starting over. To get to His Eternal Retirement Home we must live lives that show Him a good return on His investment in us. Ask yourselves this question often: Is the way I am living a good return on God's investment in me? There will be a need for improvement, even for the best of us. This book helps us to do just that."

Book Bios A Study Of Creation With Cd rom

Download or read book Bios A Study Of Creation With Cd rom written by Hector Sabelli and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2005-03-03 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on a prototype of creative causal processes termed BIOS and how the concept can be applied to the physical world, in medicine and in social science. This book presents methods for identifying creative features in empirical data; studies showing biotic patterns in physical, biological, and economic processes; mathematical models of bipolar (positive and negative) feedback that generate biotic patterns. These studies support the hypothesis that natural processes are creative (not determined) and causal (not random) and that bipolar feedback plays a major role in their evolution. Simple processes precede, coexist, constitute and surround the complex systems they generate (priority of the simple). In turn, complex processes feedback and transform simpler ones (supremacy of the complex).

Download or read book Paths Of Love written by Joseph Bolin and published by Joseph Bolin. This book was released on 2008-05-31 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "At last I have found my vocation. My vocation is love!" Love is the heart of every vocation. This book about vocation to marriage, priesthood, or religious life, has several unique features. First, while being addressed to all Catholics, not only to theologians, it does not oversimplify vocation, or give a mere compilation of advice, but aims to present the rich depth and wealth of the Christian understanding of vocation in a simple and accessible manner. Secondly, this book goes right to two great saints at the heart of quite different traditions on vocation, namely St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Ignatius Loyola, and the basic difference between them, a difference which is often unappreciated, or is passed over superficially. The goal is not to decide in favor of one over the other, nor to examine in detail their historical or theological connection; this book rather aims to use these different points of view to convey all that belongs to a full Christian and human approach to vocation.

Book The Surprising Pope

Download or read book The Surprising Pope written by Maciej Zięba and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2000 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the wave of Pope John Paul II's recent extraordinary journeys to places such as Cuba and Israel comes this new, accessible survey of his teachings from one of his closest associates. Father Maciej Zieba, a Pole who came back to Catholicism after studies in physics and activist efforts with Solidarnosc, was ordained as a Dominican priest. Young, media-savvy, and down-to-earth as well as erudite and profound, Father Zieba has become known in Poland as an engaging interpreter of the Pope's teachings. Published here in English are eleven "conversations"--originally interviews conducted for a series of programs on Polish television--on the most important points of John Paul II's teachings. Journalist Adam Pawlowicz represents the reader in dialogue with Zieba, who not only clarifies these teachings but also confronts contemporary critiques. Tackling such complex issues as freedom, democracy, ecumenicalism, and sexuality with grace and equanimity, The Surprising Pope is a major contribution to our understanding of the papacy of John Paul II.
