Book Synthesis and Characterization of Some Schiff Base Metal Complexes

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Some Schiff Base Metal Complexes written by Lili Wang and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "One Schiff base ligand, bis(N,N-2-hyroxypropylenediaminesalicylaldimine), and its metal complexes were synthesized and characterized in this research. The synthesis was achieved by the condensation of salicylaldehyde with the amine group of 1,3- diamino-2-propanol in methanol. The mononuclear and dinuclear complexes from Schiff base with tradition metals Cu(Il) and Ni(II) were prepared by refluxing in ethanol. Detailed structural characterization of the ligand and its complexes was performed through NMR, magnetic susceptibility, UV-Vis spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, and Xray structure analysis. At room temperature, the effective magnetic moment of mononuclear Cu(ll) complexes is 1.82BM confirming the presence of one unpaired electron. It is distorted tetrahedral geometry and paramagnetic. The mononuclear Ni(Il) complex possesses the effective magnetic moment, [mu][subscript eff], 3.18BM which shows the presence of two unpaired electrons and paramagnetism. The magnetic properties are explained with a modified Bleaney-Bowers equation. This suggests a strong antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between two copper atoms in a dimeric complex. It was found through the X-ray structure analysis that the mononuclear Cu(II) complex possesses the triclinic lattice type and P-1 space group. The unit cell parameters are a= 7 .823(4)Å; b = 9.688(5)Å; c = 10. 715( 6 )Å; [alpha]= 91.56(1)°; [Beta]= 104.40(1)° ; and [gamma]= 95.53(1)°. The crystal system of dinuclear Cu(II) complex is a monoclinic lattice type and P21/c space group. The unit cell parameters are a= 18.084(2)Å; b = 20.869(2)Å; c = 9.894(1)Å; and [Beta] = 95.437(2)°"--Abstract, leaf iii.

Download or read book Direct Synthesis of Metal Complexes written by B.I. Kharisov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2018-04-19 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Direct Synthesis of Metal Complexes provides in-depth coverage of the direct synthesis of coordination and organometallic compounds. The work is primarily organized by methods, but also covers highly relevant complexes, such as metal-polymer coordination compounds. This updated reference discusses recent developments in cryosynthesis, electrosynthesis, and tribosynthesis (popular as it doesn’t require organic solvents), with special attention paid to ‘greener’ methodologies and approaches. Additionally, the book describes physical methods of zero-valent metal interaction with organic matter, including sputtering, ultrasonic treatment and synthesis in ionic liquids. The book presents completely new content as a follow-up to the 1999 Elsevier Science publication Direct Synthesis of Coordination and Organometallic Compounds that was edited by Dr. Garnovskii and Dr. Kharisov. Covers current methods and techniques of metal interactions with organic media leading to metal chelates, adducts, di- and polymetallic complexes, metal-containing macrocycles, supported coordination compounds (i.e., metal complexes on carbon nanotubes), and more Describes reactivities of distinct forms of elemental metals (powders, sheets, nanoparticles (including a host of less-common metal nanostructures) with organic phase (liquid, solid and gaseous) and water Includes experimental procedures, with examples of direct synthesis, at the end of each chapter

Schiff base complex-based research for educational and industrial purposes is booming, and the number of publications is gradually increasing. Despite these interests, there is currently no detailed book on Schiff base metal complexes that covers the structures, biological activities, and other non-biological perspectives. This book delves into the structures of Schiff base metal complexes, which are critical in assessing the biological viability of any complex. It also highlights their biological significance in pharma and drug discovery like antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritis, anti-diabetic, antioxidants, anti-proliferative, antitumor, anticancer, antiviral. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Schiff bases, originally introduced by German chemist Hugo Schiff in 1864, are well-known imine or azomethine (RR’C=NR”) moieties prepared from aldehydes and primary amines through condensation. Since then, Schiff bases have been recognized not only as compounds but also as useful ligands for metal complexes in inorganic coordination chemistry. This is because Schiff bases are essentially Lewis bases having lone pairs on the nitrogen (N) atom (M:N=CHR). In both organic and coordination chemistry, as well as related fields of science, the functions of Schiff base complexes and materials are of great interest. This book introduces and discusses novel aspects of Schiff base compounds.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concise overview of synthesis and characterization of single molecule magnets Molecular magnetism is explored as an alternative to conventional solid-state magnetism as the basis for ultrahigh-density memory materials with extremely fast processing speeds. In particular single-molecule magnets (SMM) are in the focus of current research, both because of their intrinsic magnetization properties, as well as because of their potential use in molecular spintronic devices. SMMs are fascinating objects on the example of which one can explain many concepts. Single-Molecule Magnets: Molecular Architectures and Building Blocks for Spintronics starts with a general introduction to single-molecule magnets (SMM), which helps readers to understand the evolution of the field and its future. The following chapters deal with the current synthetic methods leading to SMMs, their magnetic properties and their characterization by methods such as high-field electron paramagnetic resonance, paramagnetic nuclear magnetic resonance, and magnetic circular dichroism. The book closes with an overview of radical-bridged SMMs, which have shown application potential as building blocks for high-density memories. Covers a hot topic – single-molecule magnetism is one of the fastest growing research fields in inorganic chemistry and materials science Provides researchers and newcomers to the field with a solid foundation for their further work Single-Molecule Magnets: Molecular Architectures and Building Blocks for Spintronics will appeal to inorganic chemists, materials scientists, molecular physicists, and electronics engineers interested in the rapidly growing field of study.
