Book Molecular Networks

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mir Wais Hosseini
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2009-06-29
  • ISBN : 364201366X
  • Pages : 173 pages

Download or read book Molecular Networks written by Mir Wais Hosseini and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-29 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the future, many modern materials will be increasingly based on the assembly of preformed molecular entities. Their structural characteristics and functional prop- ties will be programmed at the molecular level and their formation as a completed entity will be achieved by self-assembly processes. This in essence is a bottom-up approach and its success will require a deep understanding not only of the chemistry of intermolecular interactions and associations but also of self-assembly processes in the condensed phase. Among various interesting innovations brought about by the development of supramolecular chemistry, supramolecular synthesis is a part- ularly powerful approach for the design and generation of molecular architectures displaying both structural and functional complexity. The combination of mol- ular synthesis (which allows chemists to design and prepare extremely sophis- cated biotic and abiotic molecules through the interconnection of atoms or group of atoms by strong covalent bonds) and supramolecular synthesis (which orch- trates the association of molecules by recognition processes through the use of weak and reversible interactions) opens up endless structural and functional possibilities. Following the perceptive observation by Dunitz that "A crystal is, in a sense, the supramolecule par excellence", molecular crystals may be seen as in'nite periodic architectures resulting from the interconnection of building blocks or tectons ca- ble of self-assembling through speci'c recognising events.

Book Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria for Sustainable Stress Management

Download or read book Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria for Sustainable Stress Management written by R. Z. Sayyed and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-11 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attaining sustainable agricultural production while preserving environmental quality, agro-ecosystem functions and biodiversity represents a major challenge for current agricultural practices; further, the traditional use of chemical inputs (fertilizers, pesticides, nutrients etc.) poses serious threats to crop productivity, soil fertility and the nutritional value of farm produce. Given these risks, managing pests and diseases, maintaining agro-ecosystem health, and avoiding health issues for humans and animals have now become key priorities. The use of PGPR as biofertilizers, plant growth promoters, biopesticides, and soil and plant health managers has attracted considerable attention among researchers, agriculturists, farmers, policymakers and consumers alike. Using PGPR as bioinoculants can help meet the expected demand for global agricultural productivity to feed the world’s booming population, which is predicted to reach roughly 9 billion by 2050. However, to provide effective bioinoculants, PGPR strains must be safe for the environment, offer considerable plant growth promotion and biocontrol potential, be compatible with useful soil rhizobacteria, and be able to withstand various biotic and abiotic stresses. Accordingly, the book also highlights the need for better strains of PGPR to complement increasing agro-productivity.

Book Designing Dendrimers

    Book Details:
  • Author : Sebastiano Campagna
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2011-09-26
  • ISBN : 1118111060
  • Pages : 726 pages

Download or read book Designing Dendrimers written by Sebastiano Campagna and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-09-26 with total page 726 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research on dendrimers has exploded in the last 15 years, moving from the establishment of synthetic methodologies, particularly in the early years up to the end of nineties, towards sophisticated and wide-ranging applications. Dendrimers play an important role in many different areas, spanning from basic synthetic approaches to artificial photosynthesis, to medicine, to catalysis. The great potential of dendrimers is well-recognized by the hundreds of papers in the field and the increasing number of patents, and stimulated developments in other areas of knowledge, including new characterization techniques. However, some basic principles and methods still continue to give a unity to the field. Although several books on dendrimers have been published during these 15 years, the very recent progresses in new areas now requires a new point of view, trying to give a unifying and comprehensive outlook of the field. Since the first dendrimer was synthesized by Vögtle in 1978, dendrimers have experienced an explosion of scientific interest because of their unique molecular architecture. This resulted in over 5,000 scientific papers and patents published by the end of 2005. The proposed book will cover both fundamental and applicative aspects of dendrimer research. Chapters devoted to basic principles, synthetic methods and strategies, and advanced characterization techniques will be integrated by chapters illustrating the full potential of dendrimers in various fields, like artificial photosynthesis, multi-redox pool systems, diagnostics, biomedical and sensing purposes, design of functional nanostructures. Particular emphasis will be devoted to possible future developments.

Download or read book Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria for Sustainable Stress Management written by R. Z. Sayyed and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasing agro productivity to feed a growing global population under the present climate scenario requires optimizing the use of resources and adopting sustainable agricultural production.
