Book Caesar and the Lamb

  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2012-09-24

Download or read book Caesar and the Lamb written by George Kalantzis and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-09-24 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the available patristic writings Caesar and the Lamb focuses on the attitudes of the earliest Christians on war and military service. Kalantzis not only provides the reader with many new translations of pre-Constantinian texts, he also tells the story of the struggle of the earliest Church, the communities of Christ at the margins of power and society, to bear witness to the nations that enveloped them as they transformed the dominant narratives of citizenship, loyalty, freedom, power, and control. Although Kalantzis examines writings on war and military service in the first three centuries of the Christian Church in an organized manner, the ways earliest Christians thought of themselves and the state are not presented here through the lens of antiquarian curiosity. With theological sensitivity and historical acumen this companion leads the reader into the world in which Christianity arose and asks questions of the past that help us understand the early character of the Christian faith with the hope that such an enterprise will also help us evaluate its expression in our own time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My loving intention of this book, was a dream I had of Revelation after I read it all. I was wonder how the final day’s will be for each one of us before Jesus returns for the Christian’s. So in my dream, I watch a couple of people living up to the moment of the rapture, and how they survive that moment. Then I had a feeling to put the dream and Revelation somewhat together before the rapture happens, and so for years I work on it. In general, it is a life story of four people out to save Christian’s from the great stealing away I BELIEVE SATAN WILL TRY IN THE LAST FEW YEARS BEFORE JESUS RETURN. WHERE HE WILL OVERWHELMING WORK ON STEALING THE CHILDREN OF GOD AWAY FROM GOD. So, I thought up names and characters to tell a story of Satan’s attempt to steal us away from God. These characters fi ght to fi nd a sword that has powers against all evil, and candefeat all demons attacking. These loving characters deal with the world, evil, demonic monsters, self, new loves, and their past. To complete a God given mission to save the lost Christian’s pulled away from God. As they deal, and stop the plan’s of demons, the Anti- Christ, and even Satan himself to save souls, and if they can do it, or not to locate the Sword of the Lamb in time to stop the demon of lie’s a daughter of the main demon of lie’s Satan. So, I hope you enjoy my dream, and how I put it into written word, and in turn I really hope it will bring you closer to the Father God, Son, and let the deliverer the Holy Spirit directed your life. I am sorry for my bad grammar I being a science geek, and not a writer in school. God bless you I hope you enjoy the adventures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Durandal -- one of the greatest epics of heroic fiction ever written -- has been an influence upon and model for a score or more tales of swordplay and adventure. Durandal, the fabled sword of history and legend, somehow found its way into the Near-East after the death of Roland, knight of Charlemagne. The tale of two Crusaders whose band of 800 has been betrayed by the Christian Emperor Theodore and butchered by the Turks. "Simply brilliant!" wrote one critic. "It is the foundation of modern heroic fantasy". (Somber and moody, this title is included among my all-time favorites -- Donald M. Grant.)

Book excerpt: Following Shadow of the Swan, the conclusion to the Phoenix Legacy trilogy—the space saga of a doomed civilization and the heroes who fight to save it. In an empire on the brink of implosion, the Society of the Phoenix is the only alternative to catastrophe, yet it is regarded by the rulers of the Concord as treasonable and a greater threat than the ominous rumblings of a Bond uprising. The Phoenix is led by Alex Ransom, formerly known as Alexand, the first born of the House of DeKoven Woolf—but he now lies in an underground infirmary, critically wounded and comatose after a vital foray into Concord territory. Still, the mission of the Phoenix remains steadfast, and a new leader emerges: Jael the Outsider. Meanwhile, one of the original founders of the Phoenix, Dr. Erica Radek, fights for Ransom’s life as hard as she fights for the survival of the Concord. Erica has a third mission: to find Lady Adrien Eliseer, who has vanished without a trace from the Two Systems. Erica knows that Adrien is the key to Alexand’s survival. As war looms, the Concord must face the Phoenix, and only one will rise from the ashes. “A new classic! Has the sweep and power of Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy.” —Jean M. Auel, author of the Earth’s Children series
