Book Swiss International Sports Arbitration Reports SISAR Vol 1

Download or read book Swiss International Sports Arbitration Reports SISAR Vol 1 written by Paolo Michele Patocchi and published by Juris Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Swiss International Sports Arbitration Reports provides for the first time a full English translation of the decisions made by the Swiss Federal Supreme Court in setting aside proceedings against awards made by Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) panels, irrespective of whether the original decision was published in the German, French or Italian language, or whether the decision has been officially published or is simply available on the Court’s website. The English translation is presented parallel to the original text of each decision, and is preceded by a head note and a summary of the decision for the reader in a hurry. The importance of the CAS based in Lausanne is well known to all practitioners engaged in sports law and arbitration. It was once famously described as the "Supreme Court of World Sports." Whether a CAS panel decides in ordinary arbitration proceedings or in an appeal brought against the decision of a federation, association or sports related body, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne has the last word where the dissatisfied party challenges the CAS panel’s decision in court proceedings. This work is edited by two well-known Swiss practitioners, both of whom are engaged full-time in international arbitration as counsel and arbitrators, and have published widely on issues of international law and arbitration. This publication will be of great use to arbitrators, parties, lawyers involved in sports arbitration as well as commentators who will benefit from access to case law in one key jurisdiction for international sports arbitration.

Book Swiss Wine Market Report

Download or read book Swiss Wine Market Report written by Pierre Spahni and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Swiss wine industry is waking up to a new challenge: to raise the competitiveness of its wines, which has been eroded by the general strength of the country's currency during the first half of the 1990s and is becoming ever more evident as the liberalisation of the country's trade regime is taking hold. This report brings together material on the vital issues shaping the future of the Swiss wine market. After a brief look at the country's socio-economic situation, consumption patterns are reviewed. The market for reds and for whites is then examined. Much of the emphasis is laid on imports, which have hardly been looked at to date. A look at distribution channels shows how wines reach final consumers. A handy who's who of negociants-importers is supplied. Finally, Pierre Spahni provides a review of the most recent policy changes and looks ahead at those planned for up until 2001- and beyond. The report is aimed at a foreign readership primarily - not just exporters seeking to gain a better knowledge of this major market but also for economists, lawyers and civil servants interested in the wine sector and those dealing with Swiss trade issues in general.

Book The Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research SIN

Download or read book The Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research SIN written by Andreas Pritzker and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2014-11-07 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells the story of the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research (SIN). The institute was founded in 1968 and became part of the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in 1988. Its founding occurred at a time when physics was generally considered the key discipline for technological and social development. This step was unusual for a small country like Switzerland and showed courage and foresight. Equally unusual were the accomplishments of SIN, compared with similar institutes in the rest of the world, as well as its influence on Swiss, and partially also on international politics of science. That this story is now available in a widely understandable form is due to the efforts of some physicists, who took the initiative as long as contemporary witnesses could still be questioned. As is usually the case, official documents always show just an excerpt of what really happened. An intimate portrayal of people who contributed to success requires personal memories. This text relies on both sources. In addition, the events are illustrated with numerous photos.

Book Swiss Public Administration

Download or read book Swiss Public Administration written by Andreas Ladner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-07 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Swiss citizens approve of their government and the way democracy is practiced; they trust the authorities and are satisfied with the range of services Swiss governments provide. This is quite unusual when compared to other countries. This open access book provides insight into the organization and the functioning of the Swiss state. It claims that, beyond politics, institutions and public administration, there are other factors which make a country successful. The authors argue that Switzerland is an interesting case, from a theoretical, scientific and a more practice-oriented perspective. While confronted with the same challenges as other countries, Switzerland offers different solutions, some of which work astonishingly well.
