Book Secrets of Sumerian Language

Download or read book Secrets of Sumerian Language written by Joshua Free and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-04-27 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Available to the public for the first time ever -- a comprehensive, practical, concise and economical guide to cuneiform writing, Sumerian language and its refined Akkadian use in Babylon, brought to the surface realm from the underground vaults of the world renown Mardukite Research Organization. "Secrets of Sumerian Language" is an amazing revelation of the deep esoteric origins of human language, writing and its historic contribution toward evolving human consciousness, the establishment of societal systems and alteration of reality perception. Immerse yourself holistically into the Mesopotamian paradigm to discover the arcane truth and profound beauty of the ancient Sumerian and Babylonian (Akkadian) cuneiform literary tradition -- one which changed the world! Drawing from and building upon the research and expertise of the leading related underground movement, driven by the prodigious and prolific writings of Joshua Free, "Secrets of Sumerian Language" reveals: * The origins of societal language and the psychological (and spiritual) impact cuneiform had toward the inception and control of human civilization via linguistic encoding. * What the most ancient Sumerian and Babylonian tablets writings on the planet have done to contribute to the birth and advancement of traditional archetypes in human culture, belief, politics, economics and world order. * How to analyze and interpret cuneiform logograms ("signs"), semantics and phonetics utilized for Sumerian and Babylonian (Akkadian) clay tablet writings to preserve their incredible legacy with obscure pictographs and ideographs. While other more expensive sources of cuneiform knowledge offer little more than a mere Sumerian Lexicon of vocabulary only (using the Roman Latin script you are reading now), "Secrets of Sumerian Language" actually simplifies the scribe's art of tablet transliteration and translation by providing: * Clear definitions to 1000's of words! * Over 500 illustrated 'easy-to-read' cuneiform signs! * Comparative cross reference tables for Sumerian, Akkadian (Babylonian) and English semantics! * ...and much more! "Secrets of Sumerian Language: The Archaic History & Development of Babylonian-Akkadian Writing (A Dictionary of Cuneiform Signs)" is the definitive and revolutionary approach to understanding these ancient Mesopotamian mysteries unlike anything you've ever seen before! [EDITION NOTE: "Secrets of Sumerian Language" is an official publication of the Mardukite Chamberlains, the final installment of the Year-4 cycle and caries the vault designation of 'Liber-I'.]

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the third edition of A Grammar of Akkadian, changes have been made in the section on the nom i n al morpheme -ån (§20.2) and the sections on the meaning of the D stem (§24.3) and the Gt stem (§33.1(b)); these revisions reflect recent scholarship in Akkadian grammar. Other changes include minor revisions in wording in the presentation of the grammar in a few other sections; a number of new notes to some of the readings; additions to the glosses of a small number of words in the lesson vocabularies (and the Glossary and English–Akkadian word list); and updates of the resources available for the study of Akkadian, and of the bibliography. The pagination of the first and second editions has for the most part been retained, apart from the insertion of the new appendix and a few minor deviations elsewhere.

Book Sumerian Literary Texts in the Sch yen Collection

Download or read book Sumerian Literary Texts in the Sch yen Collection written by Christopher Metcalf and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2019-08-15 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first in a series of volumes publishing the Sumerian literary texts in the Schøyen Collection, this book makes available, for the first time, editions of seventeen cuneiform tablets, dating to ca. 2000 BCE and containing works of Sumerian religious poetry. Edited, translated, and annotated by Christopher Metcalf, these poems shed light on the interaction between cult, scholarship, and scribal culture in Mesopotamia in the early second millennium BCE. The present volume contains fourteen songs composed in praise of the various gods of the Mesopotamian pantheon; it is believed that these songs were typically performed in temple cults. Among them are a song in praise of Sud, goddess of the ancient Mesopotamian city Shuruppak; a song describing the statue of the protective goddess Lamma-saga in the “Sacred City” temple complex at Girsu; and a previously unknown hymn dedicated to the creator god Enki. Each text is provided in transliteration and translation and accompanied by hand-copies and images of the tablets themselves. Expertly contextualizing each song in Babylonian religious and literary history, this thoroughly competent editio princeps will prove a valuable tool for scholars interested in the literary and religious traditions of ancient Mesopotamia.

Book The Akkadian Verb and Its Semitic Background

Download or read book The Akkadian Verb and Its Semitic Background written by N. J. C. Kouwenberg and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2010-06-23 with total page 689 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this magnum opus, N. J. C. Kouwenberg presents a thoroughgoing, modern analysis of the Akkadian verbal system, taking into account all of the currently available evidence for the language during the course of the long period of its attestation. The book achieves this goal through two strategies: (1) to describe the Akkadian verbal system, as comprehensively as the data permit; and (2) to reconstruct its prehistory on the basis of internal evidence and reconstruction, comparison with cognate languages, and typological evidence. Akkadian has one of the longest documented histories of any language: data from nearly two-and-one-half millennia are available, even if the stream of data is sometimes interrupted and not always as copious as we would like. During the course of this history, numerous developments took place, illustrating how languages change over time and offering parallels for reconstruction of changes that occurred in poorly documented periods. As a result, this book will be of great interest, in the first place, for all students of Akkadian, both the language and the literature that is documented in that language; and in the second place, for all students of language and linguistics who are interested in the study of how languages are shaped, develop, and change during the course of a long history.

Book From the Workshop of the Mesopotamian Scribe

Download or read book From the Workshop of the Mesopotamian Scribe written by Jacob Klein and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2020-09-24 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents first editions of a variety of cuneiform tablets from the Old Babylonian period belonging to the collection of the late Shlomo Moussaieff. It makes available for the first time three texts representing varying levels of Mesopotamian scribal education. The first is what the authors argue is the most complete copy of the first fifty lines of the standard version of the Sumerian epic Gilgameš and the Bull of Heaven. The second is a hitherto unpublished bilingual (Sumerian-Akkadian) lexical list of unknown provenance, similar to the Proto-Aa syllabary. Each of the 314 entries preserved on this tablet provides a pronunciation gloss, a Sumerian logogram, and an Akkadian translation. A unique feature of this list is that the signs are arranged on the basis of graphic concatenation: each sign contains one of the graphic components of the preceding sign. It also yields a great number of hitherto unknown, synonymous Akkadian translations to the Sumerian logograms. The final chapter contains an edition of two groups of lenticular school tablets, containing thirty-three elementary-level scribal exercises. With this volume, Jacob Klein and Yitschak Sefati preserve and disseminate important artifacts that advance the study of Sumerian literature, Mesopotamian lexicography, and ancient Near Eastern scribal education.
