Because in this day and age, the entire world is talking about helping others. • Have you noticed that most people are helping others at the expense of themselves? • How long can you sustain a life built on a hollow foundation? • Have you ever experienced trying to keep your family together, your workplace sorted and end up putting all of your relationships first - even before the one you have with yourself? • Perfectionism, self-sabotage, people-pleasing, self-sacrifice... Identify with these? Then it’s time for you to “Be Your Own Best Friend” and nourish yourself first. Because when you can love yourself unconditionally, it is then that you can nurture those in need, without feeling depleted yourself. And you want that for the long haul, don’t you? In this book, Fiona Jeanne dives deep to show you how to balance the most important relationships YOU have with 1. Yourself - Build your inner strength so your inner critic becomes your inner guide 2. Your intimate partner - Deepen your connections and learn the real meaning of intimacy. It’s not just ’SEX'! 3. How on earth do we do that? By noticing this in people like Fiona Jeanne. When you allow yourself to be inspired by Fiona Jeanne’s courage, vulnerability, and strength. We get to see it within ourselves as well. For we can only see in others what is first contained within us. Book Writing the Modern Family

Download or read book Writing the Modern Family written by Roberta Garrett and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-01-29 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although a large body of work has emerged which addresses neoliberal representations of the family in other cultural forms (such as parenting advice programmes) little has been written specifically on the family and contemporary literature. This book examines the growing body of autobiographical and fictional writing on family and parenting issues in Anglo-American culture from the late 1990s to the present day. The book looks closely at six distinct genres which have arisen during this time frame: the misery memoir, the mum’s lit popular novel, the maternal confessional, ‘dads’ lit, the dysfunctional domestic novel and the family noir. Writing the Modern Family will examine the way these burgeoning areas of British and American writing respond to a neoliberal public discourse in which a ‘parenting deficit’ rather than economic and structural disadvantage, is responsible for increasing inequality in child welfare and achievement. In evaluating these forms and their relationship to neoliberal culture, the book will also consider the complex interrelationship between these genres.

Book Women and Entrepreneurship

Download or read book Women and Entrepreneurship written by Beatrice E. Avolio Alecchi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-11 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women and Entrepreneurship comes from two authors with especially rich experience in this field of research. Embracing experience in a range of developed and developing countries and examining both dependent and independent roles, Beatrice Avolio and Mirjana Radovi-Markovi profile women entrepreneurs and consider their motivations, together with the obstacles and challenges that they face and often overcome. A focus on emerging forms of entrepreneurship leads to a concentration on what is happening in newly developing economies, with a major case study set in a South American context. The authors deal in particular with how rural entrepreneurship, virtual entrepreneurship, and project-based and home-based businesses particularly lend themselves to providing opportunities for women. The authors’ findings reveal that increased participation of women in business leadership has brought about completely new ways of business communication; new business strategies and company development models; and is imposing a new behavioural style on businesses. What is particularly encouraging is the evidence that female kinds of durability, persistence and intuition are producing business advantage. This means that the authors can clearly identify success factors and propose guidelines for the benefit of female entrepreneurs, female-led businesses, and business in general. This book will serve the needs of an academic audience of researchers in the growing field of studies into entrepreneurship; as well as those teaching or studying business or women’s studies topics. It will of course appeal particularly to women owning and running businesses, or aspiring to do so.
