Book The Student s Guide to the University of Cambridge Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Student s Guide to the University of Cambridge Classic Reprint written by University Of Cambridge and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-26 with total page 574 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Student's Guide to the University of Cambridge Taken place in the curriculum of the Univer sity during the last few years that the revision of this volume has practically involved the rewriting of several of the sections. Not only has the scope of some of the examinations been much altered but also the regulations under which they are held, and a new Tripos - for Medieval and Modern Languages - has also been instituted. In most cases the revision has been intrusted to the same hands which originally contributed the various sections but where this has been impracticable the matter of the previous edition has been freely used. The issue of the volume has been delayed in order that certain new regulations-which were under consideration might be included and though it can hardly be expected that no further altera tion will be required it is hoped that the book in its present form will supply a trustworthy guide to students and that a new edition will be called for before any further important changes become necessary. Book Students Life and Work in the University of Cambridge

Download or read book Students Life and Work in the University of Cambridge written by Karl Breul and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-21 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Students' Life and Work in the University of Cambridge: Two Lectures The short account of our Students' Life and Work was originally intended to serve as a first information for the students, British and foreign, who attended the University Extension Summer Meeting in July and August. The two lectures delivered to them have at their special request been printed in exactly the same form in which they were given. It was not my intention to deal this time with the origins and the development of the University. This interesting subject may perhaps at some future time be treated in another couple of lectures. A bibliography has been added which should prove useful to such readers as are anxious to study at greater length any of the questions touched upon in these lectures. Book A History of the University of Cambridge Classic Reprint

Download or read book A History of the University of Cambridge Classic Reprint written by J. Bass Mullinger and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-07-05 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A History of the University of Cambridge Although the present volume appears as one of a series especially designed to illustrate Church History, the writer has not sought to modify the treatment of the subject in order to establish its claim to a place in such a category. The following sketch will suffice to show that it was in the University of Cambridge that the Reformation in England had its real commencement; that it was there that Puritanism first assumed a distinct organisation, and at the same time encountered the mo6t effective resistance; that it was there also that a movement which most materially influenced the religions thought of the seventeenth century, - the teaching of the Cambridge Platonists, - took its rise and made its most important contributions to the cause of freedom and toleration. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Concise Guide to the Town and University of Cambridge: In Four Walks I have prefixed to these walks an Introduction, in which I have attempted to trace, very briefly, the history of the Town, the University, and the Colleges; and I have appended to them a Chronological Table, divided into the reigns of sovereigns, in which I have included a few leading events of general importance, to serve as landmarks to connect the history of the Town and University with that of the Kingdom. The friends who have helped me in the preparation of this work are too numerous to mention individually; and I must ask them to accept this collective expression of my gratitude.
