Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While Robotic Process Automation (RPA) has been around for about 20 years, it has hit an inflection point because of the convergence of cloud computing, big data and AI. This book shows you how to leverage RPA effectively in your company to automate repetitive and rules-based processes, such as scheduling, inputting/transferring data, cut and paste, filling out forms, and search. Using practical aspects of implementing the technology (based on case studies and industry best practices), you’ll see how companies have been able to realize substantial ROI (Return On Investment) with their implementations, such as by lessening the need for hiring or outsourcing. By understanding the core concepts of RPA, you’ll also see that the technology significantly increases compliance – leading to fewer issues with regulations – and minimizes costly errors. RPA software revenues have recently soared by over 60 percent, which is the fastest ramp in the tech industry, and they are expected to exceed $1 billion by the end of 2019. It is generally seamless with legacy IT environments, making it easier for companies to pursue a strategy of digital transformation and can even be a gateway to AI. The Robotic Process Automation Handbook puts everything you need to know into one place to be a part of this wave. Book Introducing Robotic Process Automation to Your Organization

Download or read book Introducing Robotic Process Automation to Your Organization written by Robert Fantina and published by Apress. This book was released on 2021-11-17 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For your robotic process automation (RPA) program to be successful, you need to follow a general framework and governance model. This book covers, in detail, what they should look like and how to adapt them to your organization. Introducing Robotic Process Automation to Your Organization is structured to enable you, a novice to RPA, to successfully implement an RPA program at your company. RPA is rapidly growing in use, but is only starting to be taught at a university level. Many mid-level managers will be tasked with introducing an RPA program at their organizations as senior management learns of its efficacy, but will be unfamiliar with how to do so. This book provides you with the skills and information you need to make an informed decision. For decades, there has been much discussion about the fast pace of technology, the rapidly changing technology environment, and the need for companies to be on the cutting edge to remain competitive or even relevant. In this ever-changing environment, there is a need to know what can be done in terms of current processes, here and now, that will increase efficiency, benefit customers, and improve profitability. One option is RPA. This book includes information to assist you in getting the required buy-in and identifying the first few processes for automation. A structure for identifying opportunities on an ongoing basis is detailed, along with concepts that must be considered for solution design and deployment. Throughout the book there are several "pause and consider" statements to help you think about how principles pertain to your organization. Additionally, there are tips included that offer short, concrete suggestions on how to help implement the particular step being discussed. What You Will Learn Know the benefits of robotic process automation (RPA) Understand the limitations of RPA Ask the right questions to determine whether a process is a good candidate for automation Obtain buy-in from skeptics at the senior and middle manager levels, and from line workers Be familiar with the structure required for success Who This Book is For Middle managers who have either identified the need for robotic process automation (RPA) in their organization or have been directed by senior management to explore the possibility of introducing RPA to their organization; managers at all levels who hear about RPA, either through conferences, professional associations, or industry publications, and want to know more; students of business and technology who wish to broaden their understanding of important current trends.

Download or read book Robotic Process Automation written by Christian Czarnecki and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-05-10 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together experts from research and practice. It includes the design of innovative Robot Process Automation (RPA) concepts, the discussion of related research fields (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, AI), the evaluation of existing software products, and findings from real-life implementation projects. Similar to the substitution of physical work in manufacturing (blue collar automation), Robotic Process Automation tries to substitute intellectual work in office and administration processes with software robots (white-collar automation). The starting point for the development of RPA was the observation that – despite the use of process-oriented enterprise systems (such as ERP, CRM and BPM systems) – additional manual activities are still indispensable today. In the RPA approach, these manual activities are learned and automated by software robots, either by defining rules or by observing manual activities. RPA is related to business process management, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Tools for RPA originated from dedicated stand-alone software. Today, RPA functionalities are also integrated into elaborated process management suites. From a conceptual perspective, RPA can be structured into input components (sensors in the wide sense), an intelligence center, and output components (actuators in the wide sense). From a strategic perspective, the impact of RPA can be related to the support of existing tasks, the complete substitution of human activities, and the innovation of processes as well as business models. At present, high expectations are related to the use of RPA in the improvement of software-supported business processes. Manual activities are learned and automated by software robots that interact with existing applications via the presentation layer. In combination with artificial intelligence (AI) as well as innovative interfaces (e. g., voice recognition) RPA creates a novel level of automation for office and administration processes. Its benefit potential reaches a return on investment (ROI) up-to 800% that is documented in various case studies.

Book DIY City

Download or read book DIY City written by Hank Dittmar and published by Island Press. This book was released on 2020-06-02 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some utopian plans have shaped our cities —from England’s New Towns and Garden Cities to the Haussmann plan for Paris and the L’Enfant plan for Washington, DC. But these grand plans are the exception, and seldom turn out as envisioned by the utopian planner. Inviting city neighborhoods are more often works of improvisation on a small scale. This type of bottom-up development gives cities both their character and the ability to respond to sudden change. Hank Dittmar, urban planner, friend of artists and creatives, sometime rancher, “high priest of town planning” to the Prince of Wales, believed in letting small things happen. Dittmar concluded that big plans were often the problem. Looking at the global cities of the world, he saw a crisis of success, with gentrification and global capital driving up home prices in some cities, while others decayed for lack of investment. In DIY City, Dittmar explains why individual initiative, small-scale business, and small development matter, using lively stories from his own experience and examples from recent history, such as the revival of Camden Lock in London and the nascent rebirth of Detroit. DIY City, Dittmar’s last original work, captures the lessons he learned throughout the course of his varied career—from transit-oriented development to Lean Urbanism—that can be replicated to create cities where people can flourish. DIY City is a timely response to the challenges many cities face today, with a short supply of affordable housing, continued gentrification, and offshore investment. Dittmar’s answer to this crisis is to make Do-It-Yourself the norm rather than the exception by removing the barriers to small-scale building and local business. The message of DIY City can offer hope to anyone who cares about cities.

Book History Humanity and Evolution

Download or read book History Humanity and Evolution written by James Richard Moore and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002-10-03 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History, Humanity and Evolution brings together thirteen original essays by prominent scholars in the history of evolutionary thought. The volume is intended both to represent the best of today's research in the field and also to celebrate the work of the distinguished historian, John C. Greene, whose historical writings have had a unique influence on this volume's contributors as well as the field as a whole. Using contemporary sources as diverse as medicine, literature, and natural history tableaux, and drawing on the resources of publishing history, feminist scholarship, and the histories of politics, sociology, and philosophy, the contributors offer new perspectives not only on familiar figures such as Erasmus and Charles Darwin, Lamarck, Chambers, Huxley, and Haeckel, but also on many lesser known participants in the evolutionary debates. The volume contains a fascinating introductory conversation with John C. Greene and an afterword by him that responds to the contributors' essays.
