Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Apostle Peter was a charge-ahead, get-things-done, leap-before-you-look sort of guy. His life story reflects a myriad of stumbles and failings, and yet, in his final letters to believers, he emerges as a man radically changed by grace. In The Peter Perspective, author Kevin Derby examines this complicated and fascinating saint up close and within the context of everyday life. This study delves deeply into two letters written by Peter to his fellow Jewish believers while also looking at his life in the Gospels and Acts to see what changed this ordinary person into an extraordinary person of God. Derby examines Peter's humanness, considering both how many times he fell short and how he continued his journey and didn't give up. He provides insight into how an overzealous and unpredictable fisherman emerged as one of the truly great people of God. Practical in the application of real solutions to real problems, Derby describes how Peter was radically changed by God's grace; his life serves as an example of how a person can meet Christ and yet struggle with faith. The Peter Perspective provides hope that if one of the greatest personalities of the Bible can be changed by God's grace, then the answer to any question can be found in that same grace.

Book Swansea and Nantgarw Porcelains

Download or read book Swansea and Nantgarw Porcelains written by Howell G.M. Edwards and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-27 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes a holistic study of the porcelain manufactured at Nantgarw and Swansea in the first quarter of the 19th Century, using both scientific analytical data and historical provenancing. This porcelain is acclaimed as some of the finest and most translucent porcelain ever produced. These two porcelain factories are linked through the artistic and creative activities of the enigmatic William Billingsley and had a strictly limited production over only three or four years during the period 1812-1820. The earliest chemical analysis of these porcelains were undertaken almost 100 years ago and are compared with the results of more recent analyses The chemical composition of these porcelains, their artistic decoration and the struggle to maintain quality production is reviewed. Scientific explanations are proposed for the characteristic Swansea duck-egg porcelain translucency and for the Nantgarw iridescence. The book is well illustrated throughout and affords a good basis for the further in-depth study of Swansea and Nantgarw porcelains.
