Book The Story of an American Dedicated to the Memory of Theodore Roosevelt Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Story of an American Dedicated to the Memory of Theodore Roosevelt Classic Reprint written by Charles F. Clarke and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Story of an American, Dedicated to the Memory of Theodore Roosevelt In the leadership that we have had in America dur ing the past decade, I have considered the Roosevelt leadership as best adapted to the problem of carrying the race of men on and up. I have indeed considered it a very wonderful leadership and I think that by all means all of us who believed in it should attempt so far as possible, to carry that leadership or rather the things for which it stood, on and up. Such is the purpose of this story, or of this narrative and collection of essays combined, or whatever else it may be called. The story is without literary merit for the reason that it is a combination of narratives, essays and orations. It is the story told as a personal narrative of an old man who has lived considerably beyond the allotted three score and ten, and who has lived his entire life upon the American continent and who has learned to passionately love America and the things for which America stands. Book A Book of Cambridge Verse Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Book of Cambridge Verse Classic Reprint written by Ernest Edward Kellett and published by CUP Archive. This book was released on 2016-11-23 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Book of Cambridge Verse Nevertheless, after all deductions have been made, how much true poetry is yet left! He must be hard to please who cannot find intense enjoyment in the Eclogues of Phineas Fletcher, in Cowley's epitaph on Harvey, in the Miltonic stanzas of Gray's Installation Ode, in a score of other pieces, grave, quaint, or classical in their allusive ness of phrasing. Especially grateful must we be to the number of poets, of exquisite feeling and easy mastery of form, who during the last fifty or sixty years have enriched the language with delicate and elegant verse, from which it has been only too difficult to choose because its quantity is so great and its merit so even. Of this we trust we have given a tolerably adequate selection but it would have been easy to multiply it fourfold. Book Out of My Life Classic Reprint

Download or read book Out of My Life Classic Reprint written by Marshal Von Hindenburg and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-04 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Out of My Life The memoirs that follow owe their inception not to any personal inclination to authorship, but to the many requests and suggestions that have been made to me. It is not my intention to write an historical work, but rather to interpret the impressions under which my life has been spent, and to define the principles on which I have considered it my duty to think and act. Nothing was farther from my mind than to write an apology or a controversial treatise, much less an essay in self-glorification. My thoughts, my actions, my mistakes have been but human. Throughout my life and conduct my criterion has been, not the approval of the world, but my inward convictions, duty and conscience. The following pages of reminiscences, written in the most tragic days of our Fatherland, have not come into being under the bitter burden of despair. My gaze is steadfastly directed forward and outward. I gratefully dedicate my book to all those who fought with me at home and in the field for the existence and greatness of the Empire. Book The Story of My Life Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Story of My Life Classic Reprint written by Alma White and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-08 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Story of My Life I saw in the Bridwell family an intellectual and spiritual brilliancy which promised light to the world, and blessings on the unborn generations, and couse quently proceeded at once by the help of the Lord to take them out from their native mountain home to Mil lersburg where was located the Millersburg Female College and also the Kentucky Wesleyan College. I built me a house at Millersburg that I might educate my oldest son for missionary work in China; but the Lord, in His good providence, took-him to heaven whither he went with a shout, testifying to all that he wanted China, but would so much rather have heaven. This opened the way for me to turn over mvhouse to the Bridwell family, and they spent several years there in the prosecution of their education, after which they migrated to the great West, centralizing at Denver, Colorado. Here Sister Alma became the wife of Rev. Kent White, a preacher in the Colorado Con ference; and God in His providence gave them two 'bright sons, Arthur and Ray, who are now flaming preachers of the Gospel. While the Bridwell family dispersed over the great West, Texas, Colorado, Montana, and California, prov in'g heralds of mercy everywhere they went, God signally put His hand on Sister Alma and used her to launch the Pillar of Fire Church, which has astonished the world by its aggressiveness, having more mission aries than any other Church in the world in propor tion to its membership, reaching out from the Atlantic to the Pacific; she having crossed the Atlantic Ocean twenty - six times in the interest of God's kingdom; actually girdling the world with her missionaries. In addition to her evangelistic labors, she edits six holiness papers and is the author of thirteen books, her autobiography just now getting out and you can not do without it in your home, as it will bless you and prove an inspiration to your unborn children. The Pillar of Fire Church, in the providence of God launched through the humble instrumentality of our elect Sister, is perfectly orthodox, no leader but Jesus, no guide but the Holy Ghost, and no authority but the precious Word, and the most aggressive organization in the great holiness movement, now girdling the world with two hundred thousand witnesses to full salvation, dispersed in all the earth, and fast ushering in the glorious Millennium. God bless you all. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Power of an Endless Life Only the kind insistence of friends, and more particularly of one friend, whose judgment I have learnt more and more to trust, and to whom I desire to dedicate this little volume, leads me to add to the many books that clamor for our time. Without any thought of more than a possible and passing interest in the form of the message, it is the earnest hope that some may find in these pages a word to their deepest life. The form is that of the direct appeal. Repetitions mark the fragmentary character of the preparation, but the sermons were written with the profound conviction that more deeply than ever must organized Christianity enter into the secrets of our Lord and King, and learn from Christ "The Power of an Endless Life."
