In the 1980s-1990s, aquaculture has shown considerable growth, with U.S. fish farms cultivating approx. 30 different species of fish and shellfish. There has also been an increase in aquatic plant culture in the U.S. which has value in the food, drug, and cosmetic industries. Includes a bibliography of citations mostly from 1989 to 1993.
