Book A Squirrel s Tale

Download or read book A Squirrel s Tale written by Richard Wyn Jones and published by Richard Wyn Jones. This book was released on 2014-06-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The forests of South West Scotland are home to the last major colony of red squirrels in Britain. As long as time itself, a natural order has governed this peaceful squirrel population. It is their steadfast belief that “The Lord of the Sky,” the Maker of all things, watches over them, and their reverent understanding that nature’s way is his will. To most squirrels, their world operates in a basically benign fashion. It can be fierce, competitive, even hazardous, at times, but this occurs only out of necessity and represents an essential condition of existence. Rusty, a loner and orphaned juvenile red squirrel however is not content. Deep down, he feels that the Lord of the Sky has ordained a special purpose for him. In his vivid dreams, he constantly challenges the Lord of the Sky to reveal his calling. Many squirrels view him as strange and eccentric, so he spends much of his time away from the Clan. One spring morning the diminutive Rusty is exploring the farthest part of the forest where a small group of Reds have recently settled. Undetected, he witnesses their brutal murder by a bloodthirsty band of grey squirrels. Abaddon, their ferocious leader has brought his hordes of Greys North, his aim, to kill all red squirrels once and for all. Rusty must warn the main Clan. Outnumbered they will have to overcome all odds and fight for the very survival of their species.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this novel academic study, Aled Thomas analyses modern issues surrounding boundaries and fluidity in contemporary Scientology. By using the Scientologist practice of 'auditing' as a case study, this book explores the ways in which new types of 'Scientologies' can emerge. The notion of Free Zone Scientology is characterised by its horizontal structure, in contrast to the vertical-hierarchy of the institutional Church of Scientology. With this in mind, Thomas explores the Free Zone as an example of a developing and fluid religion, directly addressing questions concerning authority, leadership and material objects. This book, by maintaining a double-focus on the top-down hierarchy of the Church of Scientology and the horizontal-fluid nature of the Free Zone, breaks away from previous research on new religions, with have tended to focus either on new religions as indices of broad social processes, such as secularization or globalization, or as exemplars of exotic processes, such as charismatic authority and brainwashing. Instead, Thomas adopts auditing as a method of providing an in-depth case study of a new religion in transition and transformation in the 21st century. This opens the study of contemporary and new religions to a series of new questions around hybrid religions (sacred and secular), and acts as a framework for the study of similar movements formed in recent decades.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress may be good, but progress will be an adjustment. When a change involves a change in living and uprooting of surroundings, its major. This book is about progress, a squirrels dilemma, and adjustment. About taking down beautiful trees full of pecan nuts in a park area. The park area provided food, shelter, play and sleep for the squirrels as well as safety. As trees were plowed down and taken away, squirrels scampered to other locations in areas of distance from their habitat. As days went on, only one tree stump was left shadowed by the barren land. A squirrel was sitting on that tree stump eating one remaining nut. It was then I thought of A Squirrels Dilemma. A general theme is that when something happens, decisions must be made and adjustments narrowed and the best choice made with comfort.
