Download or read book The Jesuits Driven Away from Masonry and Their Dagger Shattered by Freemasons written by and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-02-01 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the influence of the Jesuits on the symbolic degrees of freemasonry, the myths of the Templars and their doctrine of revenge, based on the "crime" of their destruction, and the four vows of the Templars included in their higher degrees. The historical observations and research of the Bonneville appears of a worthy interest. The praises of Histoire des religions et des moeurs de tous lespays du monde, of Mirabeau, of Mackey, of J. Bilington, of Mallet du-Pan, and those of one of the German translators easily identified as one of the heads of the Highest Masonry, prove the merit of the work, for which no writer has dared answer for the last thirty years, and where the true Masons go to seek the Ariadne's thread to help them walk in this inextricable labyrinth.

Many centuries ago, a young prince, born exactly 1000 years from the birth of Islam, becomes the 'Millennium’s Most Fortunate Child'. Prince Khurram, introduced to the perils and fatal imbroglios of the royal harem at a tender age of 45 days and the Deccan Wars at the age of seven, watches with loathing the treachery and rebellion of his own father, Prince Salim, against Emperor Akbar, and the seeds of future rebellion and fratricide are sown. ‘Daggers of Treason‘ is a richly detailed roller coaster ride of clandestine liaisons and intrigue within the harem, the grandeur and cruelty so easily juxtaposed within the Moghul realm, the call of the Timurids to wage relentless war and the eventual decay of Padshah Ghazi Abu’l Fath Jalal Ud Din Mohammed Akbar. The eternal mystique of Anarkali is rekindled and laid to rest. Or, is it ? Deeply researched and fully plausible, it is difficult to ascertain facts from fiction. For lovers of history, fiction and thrill, this book is a reader’s delight!

The triggers of laughter in spoken language or conversation can often be very simple, such as a change in gesture, or in vocal tone or tempo. Speakers and listeners understand these dynamics of gesture through motor cognition and use them to great effect. The causes of laughter and the experience of humor in written texts, however, are less well understood. In Kinesic Humor, Guillemette Bolens offers a cognitive poetics-based study of triggers of laughter in texts, focusing in particular on tonic shifts and gesture in plot and narrative. Bolens shows how literary texts from a variety of periods provide remarkably precise information concerning kinesthesia, the role of tonicity in communication, and the impact of momentum, timing, and tempo on the way in which gestures are processed in human exchanges. She investigates the narrative use of such parameters and how they prompt laughter in a wide-ranging corpus of major authors that includes Chr?tien de Troyes, Cervantes, Milton, Saint-Simon, Rousseau, Sterne, and Stendhal. Using the theory of embodied cognition, Bolens shows how thwarted perceptions and expectations of movements and sensations produce the cognitive shifts typical of humor. Bringing together narratology, cognitive studies, gesture studies, humor studies, and historical context, this book offers original perspectives on important artworks and represents a major contribution to cognitive poetics. Originally published in French as L'Humour et le savoir des corps in 2016, this volume not only brings the work to an English-speaking audience for the first time but expands significantly on the original by analyzing a new corpus of texts and engaging with recent advances in the field to develop a cutting-edge theory of kinesic humor.

Download or read book Selected Works written by Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz and published by Camden House (NY). This book was released on 2019 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First representative English collection of the Sturm und Drang writer Lenz, suited for the classroom and anyone interested in German literature, the European Enlightenment, or the theory and practice of theater. Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz (1751-1792) is, after Goethe, the most important writer of the German Sturm und Drang. Crucial in the reinvention of German literature through the reception of Shakespeare, his works contain a scathing critique of the ethical, political, and sexual regimes then prevailing in German and Eastern European territories. Both aesthetically and politically, Lenz strongly influenced later German writers - most notably Georg Büchner and Bertolt Brecht. In Germany, Lenz is still widely read and performed. Given his importance and lasting reception, it is surprising that many of his texts are not available in English. While his best-known dramas have been translated, many of his essays have not, and none of his stories or poems have been. This is especially astonishing given the growth of English-language Lenz scholarship over recent decades. This volume contains new - and, in many cases, first - English translations of Lenz's most important plays, stories, essays, and poems. It is the first representative English collection of Lenz's works. Providing reliable translations of Lenz's key writings and succinct glosses of historical and literary references, this book is a valuable resource for classroom use and for anyone interested in German literature, the European Enlightenment, or the theory and practice of theater. Martin Wagner is Assistant Professor of German at the University of Calgary. Ellwood Wiggins is Assistant Professor of German at the University of Washington.
