Book Christian Initiation and Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Download or read book Christian Initiation and Baptism in the Holy Spirit written by Kilian McDonnell and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2017-02-02 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Up to now the teaching on baptism in the Holy Spirit has been based on a few scriptural texts, whose interpretation was disputed. This doubt cast its shadow on those who promote baptism in the Holy Spirit. Now new evidence has been found in early post-biblical authors (Tertullian, Hilary of Poitiers, Cyril of Jerusalem, John Chrysostom, Philoxenus, and the Syrians) which demonstrates that what is called baptism in the Holy Spirit was integral to Christian initiation (baptism, confirmation, Eucharist). Because it was part of initiation into the Church, it was not a matter of private piety, but of public worship. Therefore it was and remains normative. This is an intriguing ground-breaking study of value to RCIA teams, pastors, theology teachers and students, and Church offices.

The process does not exclude afflictions, but they are used as an intricate tool by God to launch the believer into the field of ultimate victory. The Birthing Process is the spiritual process that every believer must endure to see the full manifestation of the promise. The birthing process is gender-less. It applies to both male and female alike. This book provides a detailed description of the process that is required to carry the promises of God, from the point of conception in prayer, until it is made flesh and dwells among the believer as a tangible reality. In the natural, a pregnancy is broken into three periods, or trimesters, each are about three months. As it relates to the Spiritual Birthing Process, the Spirit of the Lord has broken it up into three phases: spiritual intercourse, conception and delivery. Once the semen of the Word of God is released into the good ground of your heart, a choice must be made; will you miscarry or carry that which has been planted full-term. As you read this book, you will gain an understanding of God's divine will for every scripture, (which I consider spiritual semen), that is released into your spirit. God not only desires to impregnate you, but for you to carry His Word until the point of delivery.Tapika reveals God's process to fruitfulness and leaves the reader barren no more. The Birthing Process book will give you the divine instruction from the Holy Spirit on how to carry every scripture full-term; and walk out of the delivery room of life holding the tangible evidence of the promises of God. Put your feet in the stirrups...it's time to give birth!

Download or read book The Birth of a Blessing written by Edward G. Robinson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-02-17 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In "The Birth of a Blessing: A Fertile Spirit, the author compares the Spiritual Birth process with the natural birth process. He takes us on a journey step by step that demonstrates Gods work in us and through us as well as how to strengthen our faith in Him. No believer, man or woman is excluded from spiritual pregnancy. For every believer has the right to spiritual blessings. Believers must nurture the special "seed" that is planted within them until it is mature enough to be delivered. God has prepared a special blessing for those who love and trust Him. As with natural pregnancy, the first trimester is the most critical. During the earlier stage, the enemy lurks in every corner waiting to snatch the seed of the word of God out of the believer like the seed that fell on stony ground. That seed was initially received with joy just like the natural news of pregnancy. However, if the seed is not planted deeply, the seed cannot take root, as it should. Moreover, when trouble comes, the initial enthusiasm is lost and the pregnancy is aborted. This book examines the development of the believers faith and spiritual strength. The full- term birthing of the blessing is the most anticipated part. By the time it comes to fruition, believers are certain of their spiritual convictions and faith in God and have gained confidence. This, however, does not guarantee them freedom from trials and temptation. Satan is always around to put doubt in the hearts of believers, no matter how strong or weak their faith is. This book is filled with the Word of God and the works of God. It provides clear and concise help in bringing understanding to the preparation that precedes the blessings that God has promised for our lives. Not only is this book a valuable resource for every believer truly seeking to know the will of God and walk in it, but it is also a powerful teaching tool that will benefit ministry groups of any size. I pray that this book will aid in bringing about a supernatural revelation that will change your life forever. What God has for you, is for you.

Some would say, That day, he took a freedom train driven by the human will, making every designated stop outside of God's presence. Many Christians have gotten on the same train, a chosen freighter that can only take us but so far, like church and back home again. Yet Jesus is standing at the end of the tracks, encouraging us to go a little bit further because our Heavenly Father is waiting for us with outstretched arms. We were redeemed to return back to the posture of Adam before the fall, destined never to fall again, unless we desire to lay prostrate before the Lord.

Book excerpt: Women are valued for their ability to bear children in many cultures. The birth process, though supposedly the most painful experience of a woman’s life, is seen as a necessary evil to achieve the end goal of children and motherhood. And yet, in the face of a typically masculinized Christianity that nevertheless professes that women are equally created in the image of God, shouldn’t childbirth—a uniquely feminine experience—itself shape Christian women’s souls and teach them about the heart of the God they love and follow? Drawing on her own experience of giving birth and motherhood—and the conflicting assumptions attached to them, by Christians and the culture at large—Aubry G. Smith presents a richly scriptural exploration of common conceptions about pregnancy and childbirth that will not only help mothers and soon-to-be mothers understand how to think biblically about birth, but also walks them through how to put the ideas into practice in their own lives. Along the way, she shows all readers how to see God’s own experience of the birth process—and how childbirth leads to a deeper understanding of the gospel overall.

Book What is Born of the Spirit is Spirit

Download or read book What is Born of the Spirit is Spirit written by Mark G. Boyer and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-11-05 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Born of the Spirit is Spirit provides reflections on Scripture texts associated with (Holy) Spirit and (human) spirit. Various aspects of Spirit and spirit are explored in one-hundred-five entries. The subtitle, A Biblical Spirituality of Spirit, indicates the ways biblical authors are inspired to present imaginatively what cannot be pictured: Spirit and spirit. This book attempts to recover the spirituality of biblical stories that narrate how the Spirit connects to spirit and the results of such connectivity. By exploring the use of biblical metaphors and similes we develop a spirituality of Spirit, the way human spirit is in the presence of the divine Spirit. Spirituality is Spirit connecting to spirit. It is Spirit giving birth to spirit (John 3:6).

Book The Pauline Metaphors of the Holy Spirit

Download or read book The Pauline Metaphors of the Holy Spirit written by Erik Konsmo and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Pauline literature of the New Testament, the characteristics of the Spirit and Christian life are described through the use of metaphor. An interpreter of Paul must understand his metaphors in order to arrive at a complete understanding of the Pauline pneumatological perspective. Thus, The Pauline Metaphors of the Holy Spirit examines how the Pauline Spirit metaphors express the intangible Spirit's tangible presence in the life of the Christian. Rhetoricians prior to and contemporary with Paul discussed the appropriate usage of metaphor. Aristotle's thoughts provided the foundation from which these rhetoricians framed their arguments. In this context, The Pauline Metaphors surveys the use of metaphor in the Greco-Roman world during the NT period and also studies modern approaches to metaphor. The modern linguistic theories of substitution, comparison, and verbal opposition are offered as representative examples, as well as the conceptual theories of interaction, cognitive-linguistic, and the approach of Zoltán Kövecses. In examining these metaphors, it is important to understand their systematic and coherent attributes. These can be divided into structural, orientational, and ontological characteristics, which are rooted in the conceptual approach of metaphor asserted by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson. This book evaluates these characteristics against each of the Pauline Spirit-metaphors.
