Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Spectroscope: Its Uses in General Analytical Chemistry Colour Refraction and dispersion Absorption The spectrum, prismatic and diffraction - Nature of spectra - Principles of the spectroscope. White light, as 'daylight' and. Most Ordinary sources of artificial light are called, is in reality a composition. A beam of white light can be split up into a number Of beams of coloured light, and these, if recombined, would once again produce the sensation Of white light. Light is caused by electro-magnetic vibrations of the ether, which travel in the form of waves, meet the eye, and stimulate the Optic nerves. According to the young-helmholtz theory of colour, three primary colour sensations exist, and the eye possesses three sets of nerves, which, when excited, give the sensations of red, green, and violet respectively. The sensation of white can be produced either when rays of light of three selected frequencies enter the eye, or when rays of a very great number of frequencies, to be considered later, enter the eye. The sensations of various colours are produced by the three sets of nerves being stimulated, singly or together, to different degrees. Book excerpt: Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Book General Analytical Chemistry

Download or read book General Analytical Chemistry written by Gwenola Burgot and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-07-17 with total page 547 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides key information about the instrumental analytical methods which are the most used in quantitative analysis. A theoretical knowledge of each method is discussed. The methods are illustrated with several examples covering a wide range such as pharmacy, biochemical, environmental and agrochemicals analysis. It is structured into three parts: the first one focuses on separation methods, the second covers the spectroscopic ones and the third part develops the thermal and the radiochemical methods.

Book Photothermal Spectroscopy Methods

Book Analytical Atomic Spectroscopy

Download or read book Analytical Atomic Spectroscopy written by William Schrenk and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is an outgrowth of the author's experience in teaching a course, primarily to graduate students in chemistry, that included the subject matter presented in this book. The increasing use and importance of atomic spectroscopy as an analytical tool are quite evident to anyone involved in elemental analysis. A number of books are available that may be considered treatises in the various fields that use atomic spectra for analytical purposes. These include areas such as arc-spark emission spectroscopy, flame emission spectroscopy, and atomic absorption spectroscopy. Other books are available that can be catalogued as "methods" books. Most of these books serve well the purpose for which they were written but are not well adapted to serve as basic textbooks in their fields. This book is intended to fill the aforementioned gap and to present the basic principles and instrumentation involved in analytical atomic spectro scopy. To meet this objective, the book includes an elementary treatment of the origin of atomic spectra, the instrumentation and accessory equipment used in atomic spectroscopy, and the principles involved in arc-spark emission, flame emission, atomic absorption, and atomic fluorescence. The chapters in the book that deal with the methods of atomic spectro scopy discuss such things as the basic principles involved in the method, the instrumentation requirements, variations of instrumentation, advantages and disadvantages of the method, problems of interferences, detection limits, the collection and processing of the data, and possible applications.
