Book The Sovereign Grace King James Bible

Download or read book The Sovereign Grace King James Bible written by A. John Calvin Study Group and published by . This book was released on 2013-03-17 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many have expressed the wish to read the King James Version of the Holy Bible with additional information provided in the text concerning certain Scriptural passages. It is well known that italic type within the text of the KJV indicates words not literally present in the original language, but which are implied within the larger context of that passage. In the same spirit, this KJV provides additional information in italic type within the text of certain passages of Scripture which further inform the reader and help clarify the meaning of Biblical words.Examples of the various types of updates that are found within The Sovereign Grace King James Bible:The meaning of the LORD repenting within the scriptural context. There is some confusion concerning the nature of Biblical repentance. Some confuse the sorrow that a human being might feel in preparation for repentance, as the very act of repentance itself. To repent is to reach a critical turning point and then follow through. In the divine plan, it is a pre-ordained turning point in the sovereign grace of God in his purpose toward humanity. It is not an unforeseen whim on the part of God. Genesis 6:6 And, as he had ordained, it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and, as he had ordained it, God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.The scope of God's grace and effectual call and eternal salvation. There is also some confusion concerning those whom God mercifully and effectually calls unto himself in saving grace. In order to clarify the context of some of these statements, The Sovereign Grace King James Bible retains all words in the KJV, but also supplies in italics some additional information to make the meaning clear. 2 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all kinds of men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any of his elect should perish, but that all whom he hath predestined should come to repentance. The use and proper semantic range of the word "world" as used in Scripture. The Greek word KOSMOS has too often been misconstrued as always signifying every person on this planet. The abuse of this word has led to much error. In the interest of clarity and doctrinal accuracy, some additional information is supplied in a number of passages.John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world of the elect.1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world of God's elect.1 John 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world of the reprobate hate you.By these examples the reader can understand the method of this edition of the KJV of the Bible. The intent is to not alter a single word in the original text. Only by the use of italic type is any information added to clarify the particular verse in question.

Book excerpt: While many of us struggle to understand it, the Trinity is one of the most important teachings of the Christian faith. It defines God's very essence and describes how he relates to us. And while it can be a difficult concept to get our heads around, it is crucial for believers to understand how God explains his triune nature in his Word. In this book, James R. White offers a concise, understandable explanation of what the Trinity is and why it matters. While refuting the distortions of God presented by various cults, Dr. White shows how understanding this teaching leads to renewed worship and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Christian. And amid today's emphasis on the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, The Forgotten Trinity is a balanced look at all three persons of the Trinity. May this book deepen your understanding of this important doctrine while also drawing you closer to the triune God himself.

Book Children s King James Bible New Testament

Download or read book Children s King James Bible New Testament written by Peter Palmer and published by Sovereign Grace Publishers. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 706 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the Bible that started it all. This Bible in children's language is dedicated to every young man and young lady in the world! Originally published in 1960, it is a word for word updating of the King James in language that any normal 9 year old can read. No greater riches can be put in youth's hands than the riches contained in this book. Every God-breathed word is in these volumes. For the first time since it was written nearly two thousand years ago, every word is being given to young men and ladies, broken down into their own language. Now for the first time the fruit of the Spirit of God is offered to young readers so that they can gather its fruit for themselves. And what glorious fruit it is! "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control" and "everlasting life." (See Galatians 5:22; 6:8) Is there anyone that does not desire such fruit as this in their life and future? Is not happiness itself bound up in these things? And more, is not the reading of the Bible the only hope of living forever? For God has said, "This is life everlasting, that they should know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou didst send." And how shall they know Him? "Faith comes by hearing, and haring by the word of God." The reading of the Bible is their only hope, but it is a blessed hope indeed. In providing this Bible for children, our purpose has been to do our utmost toward giving the young people of our day the opportunity to have a good life here, and a far better life hereafter. There has never been a time when so much interest was shown in the welfare of our young people. We see teeming Sunday Schools, busy vacation Bible schools, active child evangelism organizations, and the most zealous effort to educate children ever mounted by the people of any society, Yet with all this sincere and well-directed effort, one of the most important things of all has not been available until now - the Bible in a language the child can read and understand. Now for the first time in history these hard-working, loving people have a textbook from which to teach these young learners both grace and knowledge - THE CHILDREN'S KING JAMES BIBLE. Why must they have the Bible in their own language? Do we not go to great expense in our grade schools to provide textbooks which will teach our youth what they need to know quickly and fully? Do we give them textbooks in adult language? Of course not! The what about the Book of books? What about the knowledge of God? Shall we continue to teach the most important subject of all, in language the children do not understand? What teacher wants to teach from a book which the children cannot even read for themselves? But in this age of personal choice let the child tell you for themselves if they prefer to learn the "words of life" in language they can neither pronounce nor read nor understand. Do not think that our children desire to be deprived of love, peace, joy, kindness, goodness, faith and everlasting life! No indeed, they want to live life at its fullest. Anyone who has ever looked into their intent, eager young faces can tell you that they thirst for knowledge - and they drink it in when they are taught in language they can understand. Of course, there is no greater knowledge, no more desirable wisdom, no sweeter joy than that of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Jay P. Green, Sr. (1918-2008) is Translator and Editor of The Interlinear Hebrew-Greek-English Bible and the translator of the Modern King James Version of the Holy Bible, The Teenage Version of the Holy Bible, and the Literal translation of the Holy Bible. He has written numerous books on textual criticism.

It emphasizes that salvation is entirely the work of God, not dependent on human effort or merit. Dwight Lyman Moody, a prominent American evangelist and preacher in the 19th century, likely discussed this theological concept in his sermons and writings, emphasizing the central role of God's grace in the Christian faith. While there may not be a specific work titled "Sovereign Grace" by Moody, his teachings and sermons often touched on this fundamental aspect of Christian belief.

Book excerpt: The King James Version has shaped the church, our worship, and our mother tongue for over 400 years. But what should we do with it today? The KJV beautifully rendered the Scriptures into the language of turn-of-the-seventeenth-century England. Even today the King James is the most widely read Bible in the United States. The rich cadence of its Elizabethan English is recognized even by non-Christians. But English has changed a great deal over the last 400 years—and in subtle ways that very few modern readers will recognize. In Authorized Mark L. Ward, Jr. shows what exclusive readers of the KJV are missing as they read God's word.#In their introduction to the King James Bible, the translators tell us that Christians must "heare CHRIST speaking unto them in their mother tongue." In Authorized Mark Ward builds a case for the KJV translators' view that English Bible translations should be readable by what they called "the very vulgar"—and what we would call "the man on the street."
