Book The Sonic Throat Method and Real Gas One dimensional Flow

Download or read book The Sonic Throat Method and Real Gas One dimensional Flow written by Richard L. Humphrey and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The one-dimensional flow equation for mass flow through the throat of a supersonic nozzle has been modified for use with real gas values of gamma and compressibility. Curve fits for gamma and Z and a simple iteration scheme have been developed for use with air and nitrogen over a temperature range of 300 to 6000 deg. K and a pressure of 10 to 100 atm. With this approach the sonic throat method can be used with the most recent gas tables to determine high temperature wind tunnel supply temperatures or enthalpies. (Author).

Book One Dimensional Compressional Flow

Download or read book One Dimensional Compressional Flow written by H. Daneshyar and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One-dimensional Compressible Flow is an introduction to compressible flow. The book covers the main concepts from thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, including the continuity and momentum equations and the laws of thermodynamics; the steady flow with area change, friction, or heat transfer; and the one-dimensional steady flow. The text also gives an introduction to the method of characteristics for solving unsteady flow problems. Charts and tables are provided in the book for performing steady flow calculations. The book is useful to students pursuing a degree course in mechanical engineering and practicing mechanical engineer.

Book Population Inversions in an Expanding Gas

Download or read book Population Inversions in an Expanding Gas written by John David Anderson (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well established that population inversions between the (001) and (100) vibrational energy levels of CO2 can be created by rapid expansions of CO2-N2-H2O or He mixtures through supersonic nozzles. New experimental results are presented for such inversions. These experiments were conducted in both the 3-Megawatt Arc Tunnel and the 12.7 cm Shock Tunnel at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory. The results support previously published theoretical predictions obtained with a numerical, time-dependent, nonequilibrium nozzle flow analysis employing a simplified vibrational kinetic model. This theory is also compared with experimental data obtained by other investigators. (Author).

Book One Dimensional Compressible Flow

Download or read book One Dimensional Compressible Flow written by H. Daneshyar and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One-Dimensional Compressible Flow explores the physical behavior of one-dimensional compressible flow. Various types of flow in one dimension are considered, including isentropic flow, flow through a convergent or a convergent-divergent duct with varying back pressure, flow with friction or heat transfer, and unsteady flow. This text consists of five chapters and begins with an overview of the main concepts from thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, with particular emphasis on the basic conservation equations for mass, momentum, and energy that are derived for time-dependent flow through a control volume. The chapters that follow provide a basis for understanding steady flow with area change, friction, or heat transfer. A method for solving unsteady flow problems is described in the final chapter, which also discusses the propagation of small disturbances and unsteady flow with finite changes in fluid properties. This book will be useful to senior students pursuing a degree course in mechanical engineering and to engineers in industry.
