Book Finite Difference Solution of the Laminar Compressible Boundary Layer Equations in the Von Mises Variables with Applications

Download or read book Finite Difference Solution of the Laminar Compressible Boundary Layer Equations in the Von Mises Variables with Applications written by Gdalia Kleinstein and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A finite difference solution of the laminar compressible boundary layer equations in the von Mises variables is presented with applications to slot injection. The explicit scheme employed in the numerical method in conjunction with a set of compatibility conditions at the wall provides an accurate and efficient method of solution for the compressible boundary layer. From investigations of the decay of a disturbance in an incompressible zero pressure gradient flow a characteristic length is obtained beyond which local similarity may be taken as fully established independently of the initial velocity profiles. An analysis of the slot injection problem indicates that the pertinent parameters for slot cooling are the mass flow and stagnation temperature of the coolant. The effect of initial profiles must be included in those cases where transition is feasible. (Author).
