Book Static Analysis of Software

Download or read book Static Analysis of Software written by Jean-Louis Boulanger and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-02-07 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The existing literature currently available to students and researchers is very general, covering only the formal techniques of static analysis. This book presents real examples of the formal techniques called "abstract interpretation" currently being used in various industrial fields: railway, aeronautics, space, automotive, etc. The purpose of this book is to present students and researchers, in a single book, with the wealth of experience of people who are intrinsically involved in the realization and evaluation of software-based safety critical systems. As the authors are people currently working within the industry, the usual problems of confidentiality, which can occur with other books, is not an issue and so makes it possible to supply new useful information (photos, architectural plans, real examples).

Book Lawyers and Justice

    Book Details:
  • Author : David Luban
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2018-06-05
  • ISBN : 069118755X
  • Pages : 471 pages

Download or read book Lawyers and Justice written by David Luban and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2018-06-05 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The law, Holmes said, is no brooding omnipresence in the sky. "If that is true," writes David Luban, "it is because we encounter the legal system in the form of flesh-and-blood human beings: the police if we are unlucky, but for the (marginally) luckier majority, the lawyers." For practical purposes, the lawyers are the law. In this comprehensive study of legal ethics, Luban examines the conflict between common morality and the lawyer's "role morality" under the adversary system and how this conflict becomes a social and political problem for a community. Using real examples and drawing extensively on case law, he develops a systematic philosophical treatment of the problem of role morality in legal practice. He then applies the argument to the problem of confidentiality, outlines an affordable system of legal services for the poor, and provides an in-depth philosophical treatment of ethical problems in public interest law.

Book Design Modeling and Reliability in Rotating Machinery

Download or read book Design Modeling and Reliability in Rotating Machinery written by Robert X. Perez and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-01-20 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design, Modeling, and Reliability in ROTATING MACHINERY This broad collection of current rotating machinery topics, written by industry experts, is a must-have for rotating equipment engineers, maintenance personnel, students, and anyone else wanting to stay abreast with current rotating machinery concepts and technology. Rotating machinery represents a broad category of equipment, which includes pumps, compressors, fans, gas turbines, electric motors, internal combustion engines, and other equipment, that are critical to the efficient operation of process facilities around the world. These machines must be designed to move gases and liquids safely, reliably, and in an environmentally friendly manner. To fully understand rotating machinery, owners must be familiar with their associated technologies, such as machine design, lubrication, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, rotordynamics, vibration analysis, condition monitoring, maintenance practices, reliability theory, and other topics. The goal of the “Advances in Rotating Machinery” book series is to provide industry practitioners a time-savings means of learning about the most up-to-date rotating machinery ideas and best practices. This three-book series will cover industry-relevant topics, such as design assessments, modeling, reliability improvements, maintenance methods and best practices, reliability audits, data collection, data analysis, condition monitoring, and more. This first volume begins the series by focusing on rotating machinery design assessments, modeling and analysis, and reliability improvement ideas. This broad collection of current rotating machinery topics, written by industry experts, is a must-have for rotating equipment engineers, maintenance personnel, students, and anyone else wanting to stay abreast with current rotating machinery concepts and technology. Design, Modeling, and Reliability in Rotating Machinery covers, among many other topics: Rotordynamics and torsional vibration modeling Hydrodynamic bearing design theory and current practices Centrifugal and reciprocating compressor design and analysis Centrifugal pump design, selection, and monitoring General purpose steam turbine sizing

Book Model Driven Software Migration A Methodology

Download or read book Model Driven Software Migration A Methodology written by Christian Wagner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-03-10 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, reliable software systems are the basis of any business or company. The continuous further development of those systems is the central component in software evolution. It requires a huge amount of time- man power- as well as financial resources. The challenges are size, seniority and heterogeneity of those software systems. Christian Wagner addresses software evolution: the inherent problems and uncertainties in the process. He presents a model-driven method which leads to a synchronization between source code and design. As a result the model layer will be the central part in further evolution and source code becomes a by-product. For the first time a model-driven procedure for maintenance and migration of software systems is described. The procedure is composed of a model-driven reengineering and a model-driven migration phase. The application and effectiveness of the procedure are confirmed with a reference implementation applied to four exemplary systems.

Book Principles and Practice of Semantic Web Reasoning

Download or read book Principles and Practice of Semantic Web Reasoning written by Hans J. Ohlbach and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-09-21 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The best informal de?nition of the Semantic Web is maybe found in the May 2001Scienti?cAmericanarticle“TheSemanticWeb”(Berners-Leeetal. ),which says“TheSemanticWebisanextensionofthecurrentWebinwhichinformation is given well-de?ned meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation. ” People who work on the Semantic Web quite often base their work on the famous “semantic web tower”, a product of Tim Berners-Lee’s inspiring drawing on whiteboards. The lowest level is the level of character representation (Unicode) and the identi?cation of resources on the Web (URIs). The highest level concerns the problem of trusting information on the Web. Somewhere in the middle of the tower is the logic level. It addresses the problem of represe- ing information on the Web in a way so that inference rules can derive implicit information from explicitly stated information. The workshop “Principles and Practices of Semantic Web Reasoning” (PPSWR 2004) addressed problems on this level. It took place in September 2004 as a satellite event of the 20th Int- national Conference on Logic Programming (ICLP) in St. Malo, France. After PPSWR 2003 in Mumbai, India, it was the second workshop in this series. This book contains the articles presented at the workshop.
