In addition, the resident population of this small island was primarily from New York. Thus, the city of Miami Beach was sometimes referred to as the SIXTH BOROUGH of New York. However, if you ventured off the island and crossed the beautiful expanse of Biscayne Bay you were in another world; you were in the deep south, where Jews were often envisioned as demons with horns, colored people were second class citizens, and racial laws were reminiscent of Nuremberg and Berlin. Myron Lindell was twelve when he moved from Chicago, where he was a secular Jew, barely aware of his religious or ethnic heritage. But, In Miami Beach, on a Jewish Island, he had an odd feeling he was different. He survived the move by blending fantasy with reality, and if reality was more than he could handle, he escaped by writing adolescent observations in a journal, creating imaginative short stories and essays, which he rarely shared with anyone except his father, a few teachers, and a street smart female classmate. This compilation of memoirs is not a documentary; it is just a testimony to the value of simple memories. Too often, historians have forgotten the individual view, the poetic view, which might be closer to reality than the consensus.

Book excerpt: College Graduate Andre Derricotte spent the first few years after graduating from Hofstra University living at home, saving for what he assumed would be an eventual move back to New York city. But after starting his apartment hunt from his respective New Jersey abode - Mr. Derricotte was living at his parents' in Essex County's, Maplewood New Jersey - he decided that, in fact, he would rather be in Jersey. Mr. Derricotte, 25, reached that conclusion one afternoon in the summer of 2016, after touring this eighteenth Newark apartment of the day. It was a three-bedroom walk-up, on a corner Park Street lot, and it was flooded with light. The apartment was both bigger and cheaper- $1275 a month- than another place he had been seriously considering a few hours away in Brooklyn. Having lived in Manhattan during college, Andre had no desire to return. His last Manhattan apartment was a windowless closet in an East Village share for which he paid $1450 a month. Brooklyn was more appealing, but he soon discovered that the apartment that he could afford weren't close to transportation or to neighborhood amenities like stores and restaurants. But how did Andre move from renting limited space to owning enough space to be comfortable? He did this by discovering the missing Borough that is often overlooked, which is The Sixth Borough. The Sixth Borough primarily consisting of Hoboken, Jersey City and Newark and In this book Andre details the history on the existing Five boroughs, he describes the process required to transition from living rent free to renting, the formula needed to become a home owner, and the tools to Refinance.

It worked for a while, and Bayonne had almost completely seceded from the state of New Jersey, until they were pulled back in, it was like trying to get out of the mafi a. As a matter of fact, NJ Mafi a members disapproved and the Morris Canal was fi lled in, with the bodies of those that pulled this stunt, and Bayonne was once again connected to New Jersey. Damn it !
