Book Using Rational Emotive Therapy Effectively

Download or read book Using Rational Emotive Therapy Effectively written by Michael E. Bernard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The initial conceptualization of this book was much more narrow than the final product that has emerged. I started out believing that it would be enlightening to have a group of acknowledged rational-emotive therapy (RET) expert practitioners with well-established literary credentials write about how they approach the problem of modifying dient irrationality. Many RET practitioners of all levels of experience are, on the one hand, enamored of the economy, the precision, and the accuracy of psychological insight that RET theory offers, but they are, on the other hand, equally frustrated by their own inability to "persuade" or otherwise change some of the dients they work with more quickly or even at all. Indeed, dients themselves frequently express the view that RET is illuminating, yet they find themselves at the same time puzzled and perplexed by their inability to make the substantial changes that RET invites. It became dearer as I discussed the project with many of the contrib utors that to practice RET effectively requires more than just innovative and persistent assessment and intervention techniques. For example, Rus sell Grieger expressed the view that more prerequisite work needs to be done on the value and philosophical systems of dients-induding person al responsibility and the philosophy of happiness-before many dients can show significant shifts in their thinking. Susan Walen raised the gener al issues of how effective RET can be in the treatment of biologically driven affective disorders.

Book My Extraordinary Ordinary Life

Download or read book My Extraordinary Ordinary Life written by Sissy Spacek and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2012-05-01 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In her delightful and moving memoir, Sissy Spacek writes about her idyllic, barefoot childhood in a small East Texas town, with the clarity and wisdom that comes from never losing sight of her roots. Descended from industrious Czech immigrants and threadbare southern gentility, she grew up a tomboy, tagging along with two older brothers and absorbing grace and grit from her remarkable parents, who taught her that she could do anything. She also learned fearlessness in the wake of a family tragedy, the grief propelling her "like rocket fuel" to follow her dreams of becoming a performer. With a keen sense of humor and a big-hearted voice, she describes how she arrived in New York City one star-struck summer as a seventeen-year-old carrying a suitcase and two guitars; and how she built a career that has spanned four decades with films such as Carrie, Coal Miner's Daughter, 3 Women, and The Help. She details working with some of the great directors of our time, including Terrence Malick, Robert Altman, David Lynch, and Brian De Palma-who thought of her as a no-talent set decorator until he cast her as the lead in Carrie. She also reveals why, at the height of her fame, she and her family moved away from Los Angeles to a farm in rural Virginia. Whether she's describing the terrors and joys of raising two talented, independent daughters, taking readers behind the scenes on Oscar night, or meditating on the thrill of watching a pair of otters frolicking in her pond, Sissy Spacek's memoir is poignant and laugh-out-loud funny, plainspoken and utterly honest. My Extraordinary Ordinary Life is about what matters most: the exquisite worth of ordinary things, the simple pleasures of home and family, and the honest job of being right with the world. "If I get hit by a truck tomorrow," she writes, "I want to know I've returned my neighbor's cake pan."

Book 52 E mails to Transform Your Marriage

Download or read book 52 E mails to Transform Your Marriage written by Samantha Rodman and published by New Harbinger Publications. This book was released on 2016-11-01 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Press “send” for amazing results! With 52 E-mails to Transform Your Marriage, you’ll find a year’s worth of e-mails to help you reconnect with your spouse, reignite intimacy, and keep your love alive. There’s no doubt marriage can be a challenge—we’ve all heard that half of marriages end in divorce. A common problem you may face as a couple is feeling stuck or disconnected—lonely within the marriage—as if you and your spouse were worlds apart, even as you present a united front. Attempts to discuss the problem may lead to painful arguments, and even couples therapy may prove more expensive and time-consuming than effective, putting each of you on the spot and moving so quickly that you may leave, session after session, without feeling closer. E-mail, however, can be a much less threatening way to communicate your true thoughts and feelings. Based on the author’s popular online relationship coaching sessions, each chapter of this book provides an e-mail writing assignment focused on a different topic, such as sex, intimacy, communication, trust, and the future. These weekly assignments will grant you both the time to write—which can be extremely therapeutic in itself—and read what the other has to say without the need for an immediate response. With 52 E-mails to Transform Your Marriage, you’ll discover useful tips for good communication, learn how to respond to messages with empathy and validation, and be well on your way to rediscovering and sustaining the love that brought you together in the first place.

Book About Grief

Book excerpt: About Grief is an unorthodox learning approach to a difficult and profoundly human experience. The authors are not physicians or psychologists, so the book is without clinical jargon. It is not a memoir of personal grief, so there is no wrenching saga to work through. And it is not a touchyfeely inspirational book, so, as the authors put it, There are no doves on the jacket.

Download or read book How to Get Your Wife to Cuckold a Couples Guide written by Greg Webber and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-17 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are Kat and Greg and we have been married for five years as of the writing of this book. To our friends and family, we have a normal monogamous relationship that is happy. We own a successful business together. Behind closed doors however, we have a cuckold or hotwife relationship. We will make a few assumptions about your knowledge of the topic since you found this book. We expect that you at least have a general idea of what cuckolding is.We are writing this book to help other couples who are interested in the lifestyle. We want to share our experiences with the world. Our relationship didn't start out this way, it evolved over time. We both read a lot about the topic as our relationship evolved. In particular, we enjoyed reading about other couple's experiences to help find our way through this new territory. Hearing about first-hand experiences on any topic you wish to learn about and explore is helpful. Now that we have settled into a comfortable place, we want to help others find their way.The format of this book will be general information to start each chapter, followed by personal thoughts from both Kat and Greg individually. We hope this will give you the basic information plus a more personal spin that you can relate to. It is a well-known fact that men and women think differently about everything. Even if we agree on something, we usually have different reasons for thinking the way we do. By sharing not just general information, but also two different views of that information, we hope to really give you a great sense of the topics.
