Book The Single Man s Guide to Cooking 2

Download or read book The Single Man s Guide to Cooking 2 written by Rick Hyatt and published by Publishamerica Incorporated. This book was released on 2006-05 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I grew up in Wichita, Kansas. From the time I can remember I was always getting into some kind of trouble. Not that I was a bad kid, but I just wanted to know how things worked. As a child I had a lot of interests like rocks, rockets, and Judy in the third grade. In my late teens, I rode a wave from mania to depression, doing everything I could to stimulate the mania. My first job was at a small one-man fast food burger shop that I accidentally burned down. Having lost my first job and being bored by high school, I quit during my senior year, joined the Army, and got my GED in the fall. This was in 1967; the Army decided they needed me to save their butts in Vietnam. When my tour was up, I got out and roamed around for a couple of years. It was at this point that I really got interested in food and cooking. I took a job as a cook at a great little BBQ pit where I learned the art of smoke. I then moved on, becoming the lead cook at a popular Chinese restaurant. I then joined the Coast Guard. The first thing they did was to send me to electronics training. My time in the Coast Guard was a gasathey sent me to Japan, Thailand, Alaska, and Las Vegas. During this time I got married and my daughter was born. Later I was offered a position in Saudi Arabia as a site manager, where I spent the next four years digging sand out of my ears and managing thirty of the biggest bunch of horny misfits you ever saw. I also got divorced during this period, but managed to keep my greatest love and best friendaOlivia. I then moved back to the states, where I became the director of electronics at a local trade school for nine years. I later moved to Las Vegas. aOnce again in the quest for the perfectcookbook, Rick has integrated man humor, philosophy, and social commentary into a single delightful cookbook. Proving again that the world is indeed going to hell in a handbasket.a aI warned you about encouraging him!! Now he thinks he can write and cook. Yesterday he made a Black Forest cake out of five pounds of cherries and a live beaver.a Anonymous

Book The Single Man s Guide to Cooking with Beer

Download or read book The Single Man s Guide to Cooking with Beer written by Streeter F. McClure and published by Phoenix Books. This book was released on 2010-05-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years, beer connoisseur Streeter McClure's culinary repertoire, like many single men, consisted of boxed dinners and ramen noodles. After one particularly long night of debauchery, he opened the fridge and was faced with an onion, a tomato, a leftover cheeseburger, and two cans of beer. Frustrated and starving, he did what any guy in his situation would do: threw all of the ingredients together in a pan with the intention of feeding himself and his equally ravenous friends. To his total surprise, it was delicious! This realization, along with his love for beer and desire to impress the ladies, led him to create a cookbook that single men everywhere can incorporate into their everyday cooking. "The Single Man's Guide to Cooking with Beer "includes such recipes as Spring Break Beer Fish, Brew Stew, No Date Saturday Night Beef Stroganoff, Beer Battered Onion Rings, and Man Slaw. Full of deliciously inventive recipes, "The Single Man's Guide to Cooking with Beer "is an essential item for single men to impress on any occasion, from Super Bowl parties, to roommate dinners, to cooking for a date.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One evening, I came into the kitchen planning to microwave some left-over pizza. There he was - this kitchen god. (I’m serious, stop laughing.) He said he was kicked out of the cooking universe for gross abuse of something or other. (I think it was snorting curry or cinnamon.) Anyway, he made a deal with me to publish this book and help single guys eat better and save cash. There is a lot of basic information (shopping, supplies, tools, etc.). But more important, you will learn how to enjoy food that you make yourself. You will become an adventurer, an explorer and conqueror of meat, vegetables, and condiments.

Book excerpt: Steven Raichlen really knows the pleasure men get from cooking, the joy they take in having the skills, the need to show off a little bit. His Barbecue! Bible books have over 4.7 million copies in print—and now he leads his readers from the grill into the kitchen. Like a Joy of Cooking for guys, Man Made Meals is everything a man needs to achieve confidence and competence in the kitchen. Man Made Meals is about the tools and techniques (guess what, grillers, you still get to play with knives and fire.) It's about adopting secrets from the pros—how to multitask, prep before you start cooking, clean as you go. It's about understanding flavor and flavor boosters, like anchovies and miso, and it’s about essentials: how to shuck an oyster, truss a chicken, cook a steak to the desired doneness. It’s about having a repertoire of great recipes (there are 300 to choose from), breakfast to dessert, to dazzle a date, or be a hero to your family, or simply feed yourself with real pleasure. These are recipes with a decided guy appeal, like Blowtorch Oatmeal, Fire-Eater Chicken Wings, Black Kale Caesar, Down East Lobster Rolls, Skillet Rib Steak, Porchetta, Finger-Burner Lamb Chops, Yardbird’s Fried Chicken, Blackened Salmon, Mashed Potatoes Three Ways, and Ice Cream Floats for Grown-Ups.
