Book Miniatures in the Sicilian Najdorf

Download or read book Miniatures in the Sicilian Najdorf written by Carsten Hansen and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2016-06-13 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INSTRUCTIVE NAJDORF MINIATURES "An opening book based only on miniatures? Perhaps it sounds odd at first, but it works well in the sharp Najdorf, and even in the more positional Queen's Indian Defense. As usual Carsten's theoretical coverage is thorough, and the books are not repertoire based, but gives a full examination of these topical openings. Is it limiting only to show miniatures? Maybe, but one somehow get the purified version of a successful strategy, when the games are not complex battles, but a slam-dunk! - Grandmaster Peter Heine Nielsen, Coach & Second to World Champion Magnus Carlsen The purpose of the book is to entertain and educate you. The entertainment consists of 100 main games all of which are 25 moves or less. In addition to the main games, you will find miniatures included in the notes, along with many other complete games. The education part involves solving tactical puzzles, reasoning your way to the right move, spotting combinations and studying the theory associated with these lines. While the theoretical coverage may not necessarily be as deep as in opening monographs or repertoire books, there’s usually more than enough to give you a good understanding of the particular line, making it easier for you to incorporate it into your opening repertoire. We have also tried to include some key alternatives with analysis to give you an idea of other possibilities for both sides. As for the games, they are typically between players with a rating of at least 2350 and in fact are often stronger. However, we have made some exceptions to this guiding principle when a lower-rated player beats a player rated above the magical 2350 number. So that the performances of the players may be evaluated better, their ELO ratings have been included. The subject of this book is the Najdorf Sicilian, which arises after 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 Nf6 5 Nc3 a6. The Najdorf has been and continues to be a tremendously popular opening at all levels. It is sharp, unbalanced, with many theory-laden lines – and fun. The main lines after 6 Bg5 e6 7 f4 are steeped in theory, making them tricky to play, especially for players with limited time to study.

Book excerpt: It is more fruitful to study the tactics of an opening you might encounter as White or Black than to study the knight fork, pin or skewer, one tactic at a time. When the type of tactic is provided with the puzzle, it is already half solved. Study the more common tactics found within an opening you face and you will come away with an understanding of the real dynamics of the opening and pick up tactics you can already use. What's more, nearly half of its games are decided in the first 30 moves, so if one falls behind in this opening, there is usually a swift conclusion. Here are nearly 550 chess puzzles to illuminate the Dragon.

Book Dismantling the Sicilian

Download or read book Dismantling the Sicilian written by Jesus de la Villa and published by New In Chess. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sicilian Defence is the most widely played chess opening, both at club level as well as among top grandmasters. Since Black gets dynamic play in almost all variations, black players of all levels will probably continue to play the Sicilian for a long time to come. It has been difficult for White to obtain any advantage in Sicilian sidelines, and this book therefore presents a complete repertoire for White in the most widely played main lines: the Open Sicilians with 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3. All of Black’s possible answers are covered. ‘Dismantling the Sicilian’ is clearly organized, and each variation is presented with its history, its main ideas, its typical tactics and strategies, and with instructive games. The authors thoroughly explain the relevant themes and always summarizes the most important features. This a completely new edition, updated and extended from the original 2009 publication.

Book Playing the Najdorf

Download or read book Playing the Najdorf written by David Vigorito and published by . This book was released on 2020-02-07 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sicilian Najdorf is one of Black's best and most combative responses to 1.e4. The Najdorf was championed by Fischer and Kasparov during their respective periods of dominance over the world chess scene, and has been used extensively by many other World Champions and elite GMs, including Anand, Gelfand, Topalov and Vachier-Lagrave to name but a few.Despite the Najdorf's obvious pedigree, many players are intimidated by the highly tactical and theoretical nature of some of its main lines. In Playing the Najdorf, IM David Vigorito shows that this need not be a problem, as he offers a complete repertoire for Black based on positional principles, offering sound recommendations which lead to a fighting game without turning the battle into a memory contest.

Book Najdorf x Najdorf

Download or read book Najdorf x Najdorf written by Liliana Najdorf and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2016-11-10 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Chess, easy game!” – Miguel el Grande Among major chess figures of the 20th century, few stand out more than Miguel Najdorf. One of the world’s best players for decades, he was also one of the most active and colorful. And his life, both at the chessboard and away from it, was rich in experience, both joyful and deeply painful. In this biography, Najdorf’s daughter Liliana paints an intimate portrait of her larger-than life father. She writes about him, warts and all, showing us her father as a man both greatly talented and deeply flawed, a man at once loving and rage-prone, noble and petty, generous and selfish, jovial but despotic, earthy but vain, exuberant yet deeply sad. A genius who could conduct 40 blindfold games simultaneously and memorize long strings of random numbers, yet forgot where he parked his car. For the English-language edition, Dutch grandmaster Jan Timman has prepared a selection of annotated games and an in-depth foreword. These are complemented nicely by several historical essays, while many photographs round out this engrossing biography of one of the world’s most fascinating chessplayers of the 20th century.

Book King s Indian Defense E60 99

Download or read book King s Indian Defense E60 99 written by Bill Harvey and published by . This book was released on 2017-06-02 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The King's Indian Defense is a hypermodern opening, where Black deliberately allows Whitecontrol of the center with his pawns, with the view to later challenge it with the moves ...e5 or ...c5. With White committed to the center thrust, Black can create an equalizing wing expansion on either side, challenging White's commitment. Hence, there are huge areas for both sides to develop their pieces and tactics. The resulting tactics are fairly unique to the opening. Until the mid-1930s the theory behind this opening was considered suspect but it has attracted much attention and over time, has been adopted by many World Champions including Botvinnik, Tal, Fischer and Kasparov. It is played as Black by nearly all of the top 10 FIDE rated players today. This volume is indexed by ECO classification so that the reader can focus on his or her area of expertise. Each of these sections contains their own pitfalls and traps. It is more fruitful to study the tactics of an opening you might encounter as White or Black than to study the knight fork, pin or skewer, one tactic at a time. When the type of tactic is provided with the puzzle, it is already half solved. Study the more common tactics found within an opening you face and you will come away with an understanding of the real dynamics of the opening and pick up tactics you can already use.
