This was a lighter, more humorous addition to the world of Magorian and Jones. A true side story and can be read independent of the rest of the series. I was riveted from beginning to end and was completely immersed in the story, almost feeling as if I was taking part in finding the solution to the mystery. Thought-provoking without being preachy, quirky, and including an excellent Star Trek reference (which I particularly admire since I’ve been a fan for over 50 years), this was a really enjoyable read. Lots of funny moments, but written in a understated, matter of fact way. Okay, the author really got me on this one… this one surprised the heck out of me this world and the characters in it are fascinating and I want more, more, more. I love all the surprises Falconer and it's residents give us, good or bad ___ Canadian author Taylen Carver writes edgy urban fantasy, doesn’t pull punches, and would rather be writing unless otherwise notified. When not writing, Taylen can usually be found inside speculative fiction of other authors. Favourites include Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris, Kevin Hearne, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Emma Bull.

Urban Fantasy Novel ___ Praise for Taylen Carver’s urban fantasy: Plenty of exciting twists and turns. Feel the tingling of danger, the aha's of escaping death, and the excitement of magic I loved this and will continue on with the series. A very satisfying first book for a new series blends the paranormal and the thriller/suspense you expect in a who done it crime story Love the heroine The story is filled with many interesting characters, and I'm sure throughout the series we will learn more about them and their new Sheriff and I can't wait to read all about them. The author packs this short story with plenty of action and suspense. Do yourself a big favor and be sure to read the entire series. The only drawback - I want to read more of this fantastical world-building, and I want to read it now.
