Interesting new facts are presented that demonstrate that it was Gray's Inn law students that acted in the first known performance of The Comedy of Errors not Shakspere's company at the Gray's Inn revels 1594-5 and that it was Sir Francis Bacon who controlled them. An argument is given why Shakspere of Stratford could not have written this play. Bacon's motive for concealment is related to his need to find financial support for his Great Instauration project, the building of new institutes devoted to experimentation. The Shakespeare Authorship question requires careful navigation and the present work guards against over-interpreting the facts. Fully referenced and tightly reasoned, one noted academic commented that "Chapter 6 is very convincing".

The utmost in the way of theory, on which I shall personally venture, is this: That the facts indicate, not that Bacon was the real Shakespeare, but that he had certain connections, of one sort or another, with the literature and literati of his time, which he never publicly ac knowledged, and which have thus far never been recognized. This is a position which can hardly be offensive to even the most peppery Shakespearian; and should subsequent study of the matter show that this position is not warranted I should abandon it Without regret.
