Book excerpt: The eSourcing Capability Model for Service Providers (eSCM-SP) is the best practices model that supports sourcing organizations successfully manage and reduce their risks and improve their capabilities across the entire sourcing life-cycle. It addresses the critical issues related to IT-enabled sourcing (eSourcing) for both outsourced and in-sourced (shared services) agreements. Each of the Model's 84 Practice is distributed along three easy to follow dimensions: Sourcing Life-cycle, Capability Area, and Capability Level, and have been applied in IT, BPO, and KPO settings. The eSCM-SP has been designed to complement existing quality models so that service providers can capitalize on their previous improvement efforts. ITIL V3 suggests that ITIL be supplemented with eSCM when service management is performed in the context of a sourcing arrangement. A series of documents comparing the eSCM-SP with other models and standards has been developed. Developed by The IT Services Qualification Center (ITSqc) and endorsed by a number of organizations including IAOP (International Association of Outsourcing Professionals), this title represents a major step forward for professionals looking to implement Best Practice within the Industry.

Book Secondary Liability of Internet Service Providers

Download or read book Secondary Liability of Internet Service Providers written by Graeme B. Dinwoodie and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-06-28 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the doctrinal structure and content of secondary liability rules that hold internet service providers liable for the conduct of others, including the safe harbours (or immunities) of which they may take advantage, and the range of remedies that can be secured against such providers. Many such claims involve intellectual property infringement, but the treatment extends beyond that field of law. Because there are few formal international standards which govern the question of secondary liability, comprehension of the international landscape requires treatment of a broad range of national approaches. This book thus canvasses numerous jurisdictions across several continents, but presents these comparative studies thematically to highlight evolving commonalities and trans-border commercial practices that exist despite the lack of hard international law. The analysis presented in this book allows exploration not only of contemporary debates about the appropriate policy levers through which to regulate intermediaries, but also about the conceptual character of secondary liability rules.

Book Growth of modern service providers for the African agricultural sector An insight from a public irrigation scheme in Ghana

Download or read book Growth of modern service providers for the African agricultural sector An insight from a public irrigation scheme in Ghana written by Takeshima, Hiroyuki and published by Intl Food Policy Res Inst. This book was released on 2017-09-19 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper describes how modern service providers have emerged in the African agricultural sector, a subject that has been vastly understudied. The paper looks at providers of modern rice mills, power tillers, combine harvesters, and production services at a highly productive rice irrigation scheme in Ghana. These service providers earn net profits that are greater than the profits they would likely achieve from simply expanding rice production without investing in respective machines, suggesting that higher returns primarily induce the emergence of these modern providers. Surpluses and experiences from their years of rice production are likely to have provided the primary finance and knowledge required for entry. The service providers emerged by exploiting both the economies of scale and the economies of scope, keeping rice production as the primary source of income, instead of specializing only in service provisions. Key policy implications are also discussed.

Book Monitoring the impact of COVID 19 in Myanmar Mechanization service providers November 2020 survey round

Download or read book Monitoring the impact of COVID 19 in Myanmar Mechanization service providers November 2020 survey round written by Takeshima, Hiroyuki and published by Intl Food Policy Res Inst. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanization service providers (MSP) in Myanmar were originally surveyed by telephone over three rounds in May, June, and July 2020 to determine how their businesses were being affected by COVID-19 related restrictions. Most of the MSPs interviewed were engaged in providing farmers with tractor-related services. The results of those surveys were published in Myanmar Strategy Support Program Policy Notes 07, 12, and 17, respectively. To trace the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their economic activities, a fourth round of the survey of MSPs was done in early-November 2020, administered mostly to those engaged in harvesting activities. This note reports on the results of the fourth survey, as well as some trends seen between the earlier survey rounds and this last one.

Book Institutional Reform of Air Navigation Service Providers

Download or read book Institutional Reform of Air Navigation Service Providers written by Rui Neiva and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2015-10-30 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Institutional Reform of Air Navigation Service Providers deals with the changes that have taken place in this major, technologically progressive industry as many countries moved away from direct provision by the government to forms of corporate or private provision. The author provides an up-to-date institutional and economic analysis of air navigation service providers’ efforts to reform their governance and funding structures under these changes. The book discusses air navigation service providers in great detail, with a focus on the historical evolution of the industry’s institutional and regulatory frameworks as well as the ongoing developments in the industry (e.g. the Single European Sky in Europe and NextGen in the US). The author departs from the more conventional quasi-descriptive analysis by performing economic and econometric analyses of the industry that explicitly include institutional variables, e.g. to explore whether the nature of ownership can be associated with different economic efficiency outcomes. The result is a rigorous assessment of the structures of various air navigation service providers, strengthened by the use of case studies and policy analysis of potential reform. The theme and scope of this book will appeal to anyone interested in the institutional and regulatory history of air navigation service providers, and its accessible approach will appeal to policy-makers and professionals as well as people who are interested, more broadly, in economic regulation.
