Book CRC Handbook of Ion Exchange Resins

Download or read book CRC Handbook of Ion Exchange Resins written by Johann Korkisch and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1988-12-31 with total page 720 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The six-volume CRC Handbook of Ion Exchange Resins reviews the application of ion exchange resins to inorganic analytical chemistry. Extracted from over 6,000 original publications, it presents the information in over 1,000 tables complemented by concise descriptions of analytical methods involving virtually all the elements of the periodic table. Also, the ion exchange characteristics of the elements, as well as other important information required by analysis using ion exchange resins, are presented in separate tables. The methods that allow the multi-element analysis of complex matrices are emphasized. This work includes a general discussion of the theoretical, instrumental, and other principles underlying the various applications of ion exchange resins in inorganic analytical chemistry with special attention focused on techniques based on ion chromatography.

Book Uranium Enrichment and Nuclear Weapon Proliferation

Download or read book Uranium Enrichment and Nuclear Weapon Proliferation written by Allan S. Krass and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-11-20 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1983, this book presents both the technical and political information necessary to evaluate the emerging threat to world security posed by recent advances in uranium enrichment technology. Uranium enrichment has played a relatively quiet but important role in the history of efforts by a number of nations to acquire nuclear weapons and by a number of others to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. For many years the uranium enrichment industry was dominated by a single method, gaseous diffusion, which was technically complex, extremely capital-intensive, and highly inefficient in its use of energy. As long as this remained true, only the richest and most technically advanced nations could afford to pursue the enrichment route to weapon acquisition. But during the 1970s this situation changed dramatically. Several new and far more accessible enrichment techniques were developed, stimulated largely by the anticipation of a rapidly growing demand for enrichment services by the world-wide nuclear power industry. This proliferation of new techniques, coupled with the subsequent contraction of the commercial market for enriched uranium, has created a situation in which uranium enrichment technology might well become the most important contributor to further nuclear weapon proliferation. Some of the issues addressed in this book are: A technical analysis of the most important enrichment techniques in a form that is relevant to analysis of proliferation risks; A detailed projection of the world demand for uranium enrichment services; A summary and critique of present institutional non-proliferation arrangements in the world enrichment industry, and An identification of the states most likely to pursue the enrichment route to acquisition of nuclear weapons.

Book Ion Exchange in Analt Chemistry

Download or read book Ion Exchange in Analt Chemistry written by Harold Frederic Walton and published by Springer. This book was released on 1990-06-21 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this rare volume is to provide up-to-the-minute coverage of the many applications of ion exchange in analytical chemistry. This work places major emphasis on modern high-resolution chromatography, and also includes the analysis of proteins and biological macromolecules. The easy-to-read text gives a general account of ion exchangers, their properties and how they are made, as well as a brief account of the physical chemistry of classical microporous ion-exchanging polymers. Organized by methods and techniques, this one-of-a-kind book describes each technique using illustrations by representative applications. This interesting review also compares ion-exchange methods with other methods of accomplishing the same analyses. It addresses many new areas in this field, including such exciting topics as pulsed amperometric detection of carbohydrates, amino acids, and peptides; chromatography of carbohydrates by anion exchange; and methods of polymer synthesis. Everyone who has an interest in analytical chemistry, chromatography, reactive polymers, and chromatographic science will want to add this reference to their collection of up-to-date resources.
