Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What if we truly belong to each other? What if we are all walking around shining like the sun? Mystic, monk, and activist Thomas Merton asked those questions in the twentieth century. Writer Sophfronia Scott is asking them today. In The Seeker and the Monk, Scott mines the extensive private journals of one of the most influential contemplative thinkers of the past for guidance on how to live in these fraught times. As a Black woman who is not Catholic, Scott both learns from and pushes back against Merton, holding spirited, and intimate conversations on race, ambition, faith, activism, nature, prayer, friendship, and love. She asks: What is the connection between contemplation and action? Is there ever such a thing as a wrong answer to a spiritual question? How do we care about the brutality in the world while not becoming overwhelmed by it? By engaging in this lively discourse, readers will gain a steady sense of how to dwell more deeply within--and even to love--this despairing and radiant world.

Book Not in His Image 15th Anniversary Edition

Download or read book Not in His Image 15th Anniversary Edition written by John Lamb Lash and published by Chelsea Green Publishing. This book was released on 2021-09-18 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Lash is capable of explaining the mind-bending concepts of Gnosticism and pagan mystery cults with bracing clarity and startling insight. . . . [His] arguments are often lively and entertaining.”—Los Angeles Times Fully revised and with a new preface by the author, this timely update is perfect for readers of The Immortality Key. Since its initial release to wide acclaim in 2006, Not in His Image has transformed the lives of readers around the world by presenting the living presence of the Wisdom Goddess as never before revealed, illustrating that the truth of an impactful Gnostic message cannot be hidden or destroyed. With clarity, author John Lamb Lash explains how a little-known messianic sect propelled itself into a dominant world power, systematically wiping out the great Gnostic spiritual teachers, the Druid priests, and the shamanistic healers of Europe and North Africa. Early Christians burned libraries and destroyed temples in an attempt to silence the ancient truth-tellers and keep their own secrets. Not in His Image delves deeply into ancient Gnostic writings to reconstruct the story early Christians tried to scrub from the pages of history, exploring the richness of the ancient European Pagan spirituality—the Pagan Mysteries, the Great Goddess, Gnosis, the myths of Sophia and Gaia. In the 15th Anniversary Edition, Lash doubles down on his original argument against redemptive ideology and authoritarian deceit. He shows how the Gnostics clearly foresaw the current program of salvation by syringe, and places the Sophianic vision of life centrally in the battle to expose and oppose the evil agenda of transhumanism, making this well-timed update more relevant than ever. “Sometimes a book changes the world. Not in His Image is such a book. It is clear, stimulating, well-researched, and sure to outrage the experts. . . . Get it. Improve not just your own life, but civilization’s chances for survival.”—Roger Payne, author of Among Whales

Book Irfan

    Book Details:
  • Author : Faqeer Noor Muhammad
  • Publisher : Balboa Press
  • Release : 2022-12-18
  • ISBN : 198226411X
  • Pages : 217 pages

Download or read book Irfan written by Faqeer Noor Muhammad and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2022-12-18 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract We in our current era observe the movement of masses in three dimensions, be it through a section of road, through airways or under a layer of water. Time, a fourth dimension, provides a conclusive evidence of traveling along three dimensions, and this fourth dimension always co-exists with any of the three dimensions, either traveling from the last moment (past) to the current moment (present) or from the current moment to the next coming moment (future). Our brain is a tool which helps us to comprehend the discoveries of science in these four dimensions, but a signal of error propagates in our body when we hear of a concept which does not exist in all these four dimensions. In our first response, we try to jump into a state of denial or refusal of such concepts and realities for some. This rhetoric gives birth to the exigency of exploring the unexplored dimensions of this universe. IRFAN (inner knowledge of self and GOD in accordance with Islamic Sufism), a beneficial compilation for its readers, outlines the theoretical concepts and personal experiences of Faqeer Noor Muhammad Sawari Qadri (R.A) that uncover the ways for the reader to introspect, search for the inner light of the soul, build connectivity with GOD, and practice renunciation towards materialism to walk on the un-travelled dimensions of this physical world. The author highlights the ways to identify the inner divine spark by focusing on the personal name of GOD . An example of spiritual failure or failure in a dimension which does not exist in the basic four dimensions is the wreckage of Titanic (a British liner), which to many is the failure of its massive frame. However, understanding of the parallel existence of physical and spiritual worlds for one could be developed and self-examined by reaching the photons in one’s soul.

Book The Simple Road

Download or read book The Simple Road written by Obadiah Harris and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This elegant, concise guide by the founder of the University of Philosophical Research distills a lifetime of spiritual seeking into one beautiful, unforgettable blueprint for inner growth. "When you grow exhausted with all of today’s spiritual programs, axioms, seminars, and techniques; when you feel fatigued from searching and cannot find a way forward; when it seems that years of seeking have netted so little – throw yourself upon the essential truths in this book…It can be lifesaving." --Mitch Horowitz, from the introduction For more than a half-century, Obadiah Harris has studied the spiritual path, holding ministerial pulpits in traditions ranging from Pentecostalism to New Thought, and directing programs in continuing education, community-outreach, and distance-learning at major universities. He has worked with the ideas and legacies of spiritual icons ranging from Manly P. Hall, author of the landmark The Secret Teachings of All Ages, to Ernest Holmes, founder of the Science of Mind movement, America's most successful and intellectually rigorous New Thought congregation. When he was growing up in rural Oklahoma, Harris's family provided the first pulpit to internationally known televangelist Oral Roberts. As a scholar and seeker, Harris has traversed and helped shape broad swaths of our modern spiritual landscape. Now, he distills the insights he has found -- all of them potent, powerful, and, above all, useful -- in The Simple Road. The Simple Road is more than a book. This concise statement is a spiritual GPS that guides the earnest seeker past dead-ends and switchbacks to locate the path that most intimately and directly connect us with the Source of all life. The methods and ideas in this book can help rescue you from a crisis and provide a daily source of practice. This brave work addresses head-on topics that are often shunned or ignored in works of "proper" theology, including the question of physical healing by spiritual means -- a topic treated with deepest seriousness -- and with the existence of hostile forces that test us on the spiritual path. The Simple Road is balm for parched souls. Whatever tradition you belong to, or if you belong to no one tradition, The Simple Road helps you locate the thread of universality that runs through all faiths, and leads you to practices, prayers, methods, and parables that lift your daily journey to a higher, better place. This brief, powerful book can bring you literally life-saving solace when facing life's entanglements.
