Download or read book The Secret Life of Mother Mary written by Marguerite Mary Rigoglioso and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2024-07-16 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Explores obscured periods of Mary’s life, including her time as leader of the Christian community and as the spiritual teacher to Jesus and Mary Magdalene • Examines Mary’s high-level powers, which enabled the divine conception of Jesus, his resurrection, and Mary’s assumption into heaven • Shows how nurturing a relationship with Mother Mary can provide healing, empowerment, and the development of your own womb powers Many women have trouble with the image of the Virgin Mary, a young woman whose most esteemed quality has been celibacy. Yet, as Marguerite Mary Rigoglioso, Ph.D., reveals in inspiring depth, Mary was not just a docile maiden chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. She was a great spiritual master in her own right: a sought-after healer and holy priestess who continued her public work long after Jesus’s resurrection. Examining apocryphal texts as well as revelations from respected contemporary seers, Rigoglioso presents an extraordinary new understanding of Mother Mary and shows how her wisdom can help those on the spiritual path. The author explores largely ignored periods of Mary’s life, including her time as leader of the early Christian community and the supreme teacher to other spiritual teachers, among them Jesus and his beloved companion, Mary Magdalene. She looks at Mother Mary’s teachings of love, compassion, and inner power and reveals how it was her achievement of remarkable yogic powers and womb abilities that enabled her to conceive Jesus in a highly advanced way and resurrect his body. She also examines Mary’s assumption into heaven and explains how her powers as a great spiritual master enabled her to transform into a goddess at the end of her time on earth. Revealing the secret life of Mother Mary as a deeply revered community leader, miracle-worker, and advanced spiritual practitioner, Rigoglioso shows how nurturing a relationship with the world’s most famous holy woman can provide healing, empowerment, and the development of your own womb powers.

Download or read book Separate Lives written by Silvia Pettem and published by Lyons Press. This book was released on 2024-08-06 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mary Rippon was a pioneer woman educator in the male-dominated world of nineteenth-century academia. As the first female professor at the University of Colorado, she is believed to have been the first woman in the U.S. to teach at a state university. Mary received wide acclaim for her teaching, but Victorian society forced her to lead two very separate lives. "Miss Rippon," as she was always called, was both a professional woman and a mother in an era when these two roles could not be combined. In order to keep her job, she hid her husband and child behind a Victorian veil of secrecy that spanned two continents. Now, for the first time, the full story of the conflicts between this extraordinary woman's public and private lives is revealed. Readers will follow Mary from her small midwestern hometown to the great centers of culture in Europe. In January 1878, after several years of education in Germany, France, and Switzerland, the soft-spoken twenty-seven-year-old was welcomed at the newly opened University of Colorado in the then-small frontier town of Boulder. The growth of her lengthy career paralleled the early growth of the university, where she worked her way up from first female faculty member to the university's first female professor, eventually chairing the Department of German Language and Literature. The truth of Mary's separate lives was not revealed until nearly a century later, in 1976, when her elderly grandson revealed to a university librarian that he was Mary's descendant. In 2006, Mary received a posthumous honorary degree from the University of Colorado, and a scholarship was recently endowed in her name. Silvia Pettem's carefully researched biography weaves together the story of Mary's private life with her professional career: not to tarnish Mary's well-deserved reputation, but rather to uncover the human side of a woman whose circumstances clashed with the mores of her times.

Now it happened one day that the eldest son wanted to go into the forest, to hew wood, and his Mother gave him a beautiful cake and a bottle of wine to take with him, so that he might not suffer from hunger or thirst. When he came to the wood he met a little old grey man, who, bidding him good-day, said: "Give me a small piece of the cake in your wallet, and let me drink a mouthful of your wine; I am so hungry and thirsty." But the clever son answered: "If I were to give you my cake and wine, I should have none for myself, so be off with you," and he left the little man standing there, and walked away. Hardly had he begun to hew down a tree, when his axe slipped and cut his arm, so that he had to go home at once and have the wound bound up. This was the work of the little grey man.

Download or read book The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists written by Robert Tressell and published by anboco. This book was released on 2016-08-30 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In writing this book my intention was to present, in the form of an interesting story, a faithful picture of working-class life--more especially of those engaged in the Building trades--in a small town in the south of England. I wished to describe the relations existing between the workmen and their employers, the attitude and feelings of these two classes towards each other; their circumstances when at work and when out of employment; their pleasures, their intellectual outlook, their religious and political opinions and ideals. The action of the story covers a period of only a little over twelve months, but in order that the picture might be complete it was necessary to describe how the workers are circumstanced at all periods of their lives, from the cradle to the grave. Therefore the characters include women and children, a young boy--the apprentice--some improvers, journeymen in the prime of life, and worn-out old men. I designed to show the conditions relating from poverty and unemployment: to expose the futility of the measures taken to deal with them and to indicate what I believe to be the only real remedy, namely--Socialism. I intended to explain what Socialists understand by the word 'poverty': to define the Socialist theory of the causes of poverty, and to explain how Socialists propose to abolish poverty. It may be objected that, considering the number of books dealing with these subjects already existing, such a work as this was uncalled for. The answer is that not only are the majority of people opposed to Socialism, but a very brief conversation with an average anti-socialist is sufficient to show that he does not know what Socialism means. The same is true of all the anti-socialist writers and the 'great statesmen' who make anti-socialist speeches: unless we believe that they are deliberate liars and imposters, who to serve their own interests labour to mislead other people, we must conclude that they do not understand Socialism.
