It holds a doctrine or theology "built on esoteric truths of the ancient past", which, "concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe and the spiritual realm." Several modern societies have been formed of the study of Rosicrucianism and allied subjects. William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932) was a prolific writer. His works treat themes related to the mental world, occultism, divination, psychic reality, and mankind's nature. They constitute a basis for what Atkinson called "New Psychology" or "New Thought".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Secret Doctrine of the Rosicrucians is one of the many titles attributed to William Walker Atkinson writing under a pseudonym. The book presents the history and background of the Rosicruscians, a mystical brotherhood which uses Christian symbology to communicate otherworldly ideas and meanings. Atkinson, writing as Magnus Incognito, supplies a guide to the beliefs and teachings of the brotherhood, including how to ascend to higher planes, sexual satisfaction as spiritual enlightenment, and the meaning behind auras. Interestingly, much of the Rosicrucisans is taken verbatim from another Atkinson work The Arcane Teachings.MAGNUS INCOGNITO is an alias and pen name of American writer WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON (1862-1932). He only used the pseudonym once, obviously wishing to emphasize the writer's anonymity. Atkinson was editor of the popular magazine New Thought from 1901 to 1905, and editor of the journal Advanced Thought from 1916 to 1919. He authored dozens of New Thought books under numerous pseudonyms, including "Yogi," some of which are likely still unknown today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The student of the history of occultism and the esoteric teachings, and even the average reader of current books and magazines, finds many references to 'The Rosicrucians, ' a supposed ancient secret society devoted to the study of occult doctrines and the manifestation of occult powers. But when such person seeks to obtain detailed information concerning this supposed ancient 'order' he finds himself baffled and defeated. Before acknowledging the futility of the quest, however, he usually investigates one or more so-called 'orders' having as a part of their title the word 'Rosicrucian, ' only to find himself invited to join such 'order' upon the payment of a fee or fees ranging from a small amount in some cases to quite large amounts in others, each 'order' claiming to be the 'only original order, ' and asserting that all the others are base imitators. The truth is that there is not in existence, and never has been in existence, any popular occult order sanctioned by the real Rosicrucians, which anyone may join upon payment of fees, large or small, just as he may join any of the better known fraternal organizations of which there are so many. The true Rosicrucians have no formal organization, and are held together only by the ties of common interest in the occult and esoteric studies, and by the common acceptance of certain fundamental principles of belief and knowledge. This unorganized 'order' has members in all walks of life, and in all countries, and its members never announce themselves as 'Rosicrucians' to the general public. Admission to this unorganized 'order' is never granted upon the payment of a fee, and is possible only upon the request and recommendation of three members in good standing who have themselves been members for a certain period of time, and who have attained a certain degree of proficiency in the attainment of the esoteric knowledge, and in demonstrating the principles discovered by them under the direction of certain higher adepts in the arcane wisdom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This superb study explains the spiritual doctrines of the Rosicrucian order, and the esoteric and occultist knowledge which the group has researched and taught for centuries. Founded in the early 17th century, the Rosicrucian order began as a curiosity - a group of individuals citing ancient knowledge of Egyptian and other spiritual orders. With this knowledge, these sages were said to understand the interplay between the physical world and the spiritual planes, and the relationship of the human soul to these multiple realms of consciousness. Such vivid and striking claims attracted popular attention; for centuries to follow the Rosicrucian order has remained manifest in one form or another. William Walker Atkinson, writing here under one of his pseudonyms - "Magus Incognito" - begins with a summary concerning the Rosicrucians. He then delves sequentially into matters of alchemy, the multifaceted nature of the soul, and the relationships between our lives in the physical reality and the realms beyond. He explores the symbolism inherent to the occult, the phrases and terms esoteric investigators use, cogently revealing the broad range of doctrines that have developed over generations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For once, a book which really lives up to its title. Hall self-published this massive tome in 1928, consisting of about 200 legal-sized pages in 11 point type; it is literally his magnum opus. Each of the nearly 50 chapters is so dense with information that it is the equivalent of an entire short book. If you read this book in its entirety you will be in a good position to dive into subjects such as the Qabbala, Alchemy, Tarot, Ceremonial Magic, Neo-Platonic Philosophy, Mystery Religions, and the theory of Rosicrucianism and Freemasonry. Although there are some questionable and controversial parts of the book, such as the outdated material on Islam, the portion on the Bacon-Shakespeare hypothesis, and Hall's conspiracy theory of history as driven by an elite cabal of roving immortals, they are far out-weighed by the comprehensive information here on other subjects.
