Cloudy Rain loves to do cartwheels, backflips and splash puddles in the rain. But not Rain Forrest, he hates the rain. He doesnt want to play in it, nor go outside when it pours down from the highest clouds in the sky, and he certainly doesnt want his soggy friend close by when hes been soaked by the rain. Yet, on any sunny day, its Rain Forrest whose brightness shines. He doesnt want a shady old oak tree, a big beach umbrella, or creamy creams. He simply wants to bake in the sun until he glows like Saturn because according to him the sun is the mother who tans me. Cloudy Rain fulfills his part of the agreement. While the best friends have many exciting and life changing adventures that will test just how strong their friendship really is, Rain Forrest hasnt stepped up to fulfill his end of the agreement. When the best friends are separated by one of their adventures, and theres a possibility they will never reunite, Rain Forrest steps up, and he takes the biggest of leaps to search for his best friend.

Book excerpt: The seventh volume in Knopf’s critically acclaimed Complete Lyrics series, published in Johnny Mercer’s centennial year, contains the texts to more than 1,200 of his lyrics, several hundred of them published here for the first time. Johnny Mercer’s early songs became staples of the big band era and were regularly featured in the musicals of early Hollywood. With his collaborators, who included Richard A. Whiting, Harry Warren, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerome Kern, and Harold Arlen, he wrote the lyrics to some of the most famous standards, among them, “Too Marvelous for Words,” “Jeepers Creepers,” “Skylark,” “I’m Old-Fashioned,” and “That Old Black Magic.” During a career of more than four decades, Mercer was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song an astonishing eighteen times, and won four: for his lyrics to “On the Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe” (music by Warren), “In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening” (music by Carmichael), and “Moon River” and “Days of Wine and Roses” (music for both by Henry Mancini). You’ve probably fallen in love with more than a few of Mercer’s songs–his words have never gone out of fashion–and with this superb collection, it’s easy to see that his lyrics elevated popular song into art.

Book The Crimson Rain Report

Download or read book The Crimson Rain Report written by Samuel L Henton and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ethan Bar-Lev, Brodie Saunders and Harshul Khanna, we are the three of the most unlikely names to ever make a difference. My friend Brodie wanted me to turn to God. My other friend Harshul wanted me to turn to drugs. I doubt I'll find my answers in religion or intoxication. We are not a unified civilization. You are one or the other, a drug pusher or a religious preacher, and they despise one another. When emotions have effect on the flesh, it's a tough life. I have my scars, badges of weakness. My nose rains crimson and my eye sockets swell when I become overwhelmed with sadness or other dark feelings. People use drugs to protect them from themselves. It's not hard. Drugs are legal. Or should I say, they might as well be as it's bootlegged in broad day light, sold in the streets, law enforcement turn a blind eye, what else was the government supposed to do? You know it's amazing how people still hurt the people they love, even when they can see the damage they do...' I caught my fiancée cheating on me, whilst I was holding a piece of her decorative ornamental bamboo, I should have weaponized it, beaten the unfaithfulness out of her. But I didn't. I soon find myself in the Catacombs, an island set up during the prohibition for soldiers to blow off steam. Now a mysterious celebrity hotspot, I end up there, mourning the loss of my unfaithful wife to be. They say it's heaven on earth, but before I know it I'm swept away into a place outside of society, outside of sanity. Into the world of Crow I fall, the man who crafted heaven on earth, to lure her, to lure her to him.

When Nell MacDermott learns that her husband, architect Adam Cauliff, and three of his business associates have died in an explosion of his new cabin cruiser, she is not only devastated but wracked with guilt. The last time she saw Adam, they had a bitter quarrel over her plan to run for the congressional seat long held by her grandfather; she had told him not to come home. As the investigation into the boat's explosion proceeds, Nell learns that it was not an accident but a bomb. Despite her skepticism, Nell is swayed by her great-aunt Gert, a believer in psychic powers, to see a medium claiming to be Adam's channel. While trying to unravel the threads of Adam's past and his violent end, Nell consults the medium, who transmits messages to her with instructions from Adam. The story reaches a powerful climax in Nell's final encounter with the medium, in which she learns the truth about the explosion—truth she can't be allowed to live and tell.

Book Then Came the Rain

Download or read book Then Came the Rain written by Patti Davy and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007-07 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Constance L. Aguero. The name of this book is, The Wounded Child, The girl the world forgot! this book consists of poetry that I have been writing since I was about eight years old. These poems express the feelings that this young survivor experienced at the hands of sexual, physical and emotional abuse. These poems talk about the abuse of my father, my uncle Walter, my uncle Raymond, my mother and her previous boyfriends, and my father's tricks that he brought home from the bar. I'm hoping that with me expressing my abuse through my poetry, that I can give a young or old person a chance at some hope. I decided that it was time for the world to know exactly what kind of people my abusers really were. I also figured this was my chance to tell my story, my way, without fearing what my abusers might think. This is my time to stand up and feel proud of the young woman I taught myself to be. My goals for writing this book are to let children know that it is not ok to be abused, that they should tell someone if they are. Also I want a chance to feel proud that I finally finished something that I set out to do. I believe that if people take time to trust their gut instincts that they will be able to find the appropriate treatment for their issues. If they do this, they will feel a huge change in how they feel about themselves.
